if you think about it golovkin is actually an attractive fight to anyone financially because he doesn't make big financial demands. he comes cheap actually...cheaper than guys who get lower tv ratings than him.

The hypocrisy of some people in this thread is incredible. The reason why Golovkin isn't Froch's first choice is the exact same reason why Golovkin isn't fighting Ward.
A slight difference is that Froch has £4m on the table to fight the likes of DeGale on PPV whilst Golovkin is fighting cab drivers for 900k on free HBO.
Come on now.

Hearn said before that Froch wants and needs a challenge to fight again and that apparently Chavez is the challenge he most wants. Now tell me is Chavez more of a challenge than Golovkin? Clearly both Hearn and Froch are being disingenuous.
The Golovkin fight should be a mega fight. It should be a HBO PPV fight but it's not at this moment in time because Golovkin is not a PPV fighter. Why make a fight when neither guy is going to get what the fight SHOULD BE worth?
The motivation for Froch is fighting in Vegas. I think the opponent is incidental. Chavez Jr is an HBO PPV fight though where he'll likely earn twice what he would for a Golovkin fight. Again, logically it isn't hard to understand.

Would you do a harder job for less money?

I'd take the same amount and maybe less if I wanted to prove I was the best, Froch is not in a situation where he has yet to make a lot of money, he has already made a fortune. The difference in finances between the fighters on offer to him are fairly small considering the amount of money he has already made.
Froch-Golovkin is a sky box office fight. That means it is less lucrative than an HBO box office fight but it is still good money.
I agree Froch wants to fight in Las Vegas, in a fight that the US boxing media will take great heed over. He could probably fight Golovkin in Las Vegas, just not on ppv. Froch wants Las Vegas plus PPV. That is fair enough, but he and his supporters cannot also claim they want to face the best opponents and that Froch will face anyone. At least at this stage Froch is more concerned with the limelight and the money than he is fighting the best opponents.Last edited by Humean; 10-22-2014, 06:27 PM.
