I have no reason to believe Alvarez would duck Golovkin. Cotto yeah, but I think Alvarez will fight him. What's another 6 months or so to wait and see? Not like he's the first fighter to languish in a division that ducks him.
I still have a problem with people putting more pressure on Golovkin to move up than the rest of the division to fight him. Should be the other way around. I want to see Golovkin fight Froch or Ward more than any fight at middleweight, but if he wants to try and unify, he's closer than ever.Comment

Another question along those lines: Why is Ward only calling out GGG? Golovkin's trainer may have put his foot in his mouth by saying they'd fight anyone from 154-168, but he's backed off from that. Why doesn't Ward call out BHop, Kovalev, Stevenson, Chavez, JR or anyone other than Golovkin? Answer: He wants the smaller guy with the big name, because on paper, it's an easier fight than someone his own size.Last edited by SUBZER0ED; 10-20-2014, 01:09 PM.Comment

As for moving down to fight GGG. He could, but GGG said he'll fight anybody from 54-68. Just like Dawson said he was willing to come down to 168 to fight Ward. Quit running your d1ck lick if you're not willing to back it up.Comment

He hasn't had the right offer. In fact, because of Ward's contractual problems, he hasn't had any offer at all.Comment

Was this before or after he acted shook like a b1tch saying Ward didn't make financial sense?Comment

Robert Garcia got exposed. His fighters always fail to make weight, intentionally or not. Sad thing is Rubio lost belt, $100,000 and credibility. Thanks to his trainer of the year. IMO Rubio never had a chance seeing his training videos. He looked cold, sloppy, flat footed and off balance. So much for the weight advantage!Comment

The oft quoted 'we're ready for everyone from 154 - 168' was actually qualified 'we're open to offers from anyone from 154 - 168' though the second part seems to be widely ignored.
Ward / Goosen never sent an offer, and Ward is well outside the payscale of a GGG fight budget - at the end of the day, if Ward actually wants to fight GGG then it's only him that can make it happen (assuming HBO want this fight at all, which I seriously doubt right now).
Sad thing is I'd be quite happy with a GGG - Ward fight tomorrow, but I can see plenty of reasons why it won't happen anytime soon - not least, as both parties are doubtless aware is that this should be a much, MUCH richer fight in a year or two.Comment

Nice use of hyperbole, I'm sure poor Abel will be deeply upset, but it's what their position has always been. If the money's right then they'll fight away from 160.

Abel Sanchez, GGG's trainer - "As for Ward, he has a situation with his promoter that is keeping him idle. But if a fight with Gennady could be discussed, the fact is that Andre is on an island with the belief that he can demand terms. That makes it un-makeable and un-workable when he wants the major portion of the money.”
He said that after saying that GGG would move up for the right offer.
Personally, I think that Ward and GGG have playing the waiting game with each other because they both know that if GGG's popularity continues to grow a fight between them will be huge, definitely PPV, and Andre won't need to demand the major portion of the money for it to be worth his while. They can go 50/50 and both will be happy.Comment
