Good read. I don't think GGG needs to move up just yet. There's a good possibility the winner of Canelo/Cotto (if it gets made) facing GGG if either one wins in a blowout, especially when HBO throws a ton of money at the fight. Unless he can get Froch in Vegas than I'd stick to 160. Why move up in the near future when Ward/Chavez Jr are unreliable at the moment, they both have promoter problems & a history of pulling out of fights for various reasons. 168 is similar to 160, without Ward, Froch, Cotto, Canelo, JCC Jr they both are comparable.

There is no challenges at 160. None, zero. Staying there is a waste of time.
He's not a small MW, he'd be solid at the weight. All the career enhancing fights are there so the fact he's done nothing of real note at MW is irrelevant it will stay that way until he moves up.
Froch - team turned the fight down
Chavez - turned the fight down, legal dispute
Ward - not fighting, legal dispute
Kessler - not fighting, talking Froch-Ward
Dirrell bros. - Cold War/Haymon/HBO
Abraham - probably wouldn't take it
Groves - probably wouldn't take it in next year or so
All very well saying 168 is career-enhancing but the fights have to actually be able to happen.Last edited by Weebler I; 10-20-2014, 09:38 AM.

Froch hasn't turned anything down but that's besides the point regardless to who will and won't fight him 168 is where he should be heading now.
People such as yourself seem like they'd rather him stay at 160 where he has no challenges. Oh sorry that's when you're taking from a "promoters view" but even as a "fan view" you don't want him to fight the best anyway because "it's not exciting"
It is what it is. I very much doubt Golovkin would fight Ward in all honesty anyway.

Cotto started out as a light welter so he'll be a fool to fight a heavy hitting, natural middlewieght like GGG. Alvarez is a logical choice, but a puncher should be looking to move up to fight bigger fighters, not down to fight smaller ones.

Man I am about OLD SCHOOL
Go for the Lineal title, and defend it. Cotto's got it, GGG deserves the fight more than anyone. Best against the Best.
But
Today , in this age, its about TV networks ,MONEY, Promoters, Money, PPV, more money, PPV NUMBERS , Haymon, more money, something is lost in the mix. When you lose that precious something then you have something like pro wrestling. Garbage!!!
Thanks for the Article !!!!
Some fools will bash GGG for what he can't do and thats make fighters fight him. They will say he is ducking, what a load of pig manure !
After the Rubio thang who did GGG say he wanted next ? MIGUEL COTTO !!! LETS DO IT for the LINEAL TITLE !

He's on the brink of scoring his big fight at middleweight. No point in moving up at the moment.
If the Cotto/Alvarez winner ducks him, then it's time to move up or spend his career beating on overmatched fighters. His choice.

So in yer pea brain, think this. TV networks, Promoters, money makers that have a controlling interest in matches made won't make a match until it makes the most money sense, isn't that what is happening out of our control ? Yet you and others can't see that you just like to BASH some fighter when its not in his control , what dumbazzzzzzzzzzzzes !!!!!! shame on you mang.
GGG should take Cottos lineal title, KO CHavez jr, KO Canelo, build his name with the casual fan and face WARD in one year. Ward in the mean time should have fought to please the Tv networks the promoters, the money makers and become a ppv star in his division but his style sucks !!!!!!
Then match GGG vs WARD

I still have a problem with people putting more pressure on Golovkin to move up than the rest of the division to fight him. Should be the other way around. I want to see Golovkin fight Froch or Ward more than any fight at middleweight, but if he wants to try and unify, he's closer than ever.
