He shouldn't move up until the Canelo fight presents itself. He will never see a payday like that in his career.

Well, if a fight's gonna happen then someone has to send an offer, no matter what's been said in the past. Opinions change, budgets change, options change. GGG couldn't (and can't) afford Ward, so if Ward wants to fight GGG he has to make the offer.

It is fair to say that Sanchez may have been presumptuous in forestalling what might have been a reasonable offer, but the vast differential in their earning power would have made it fairly clear that Golovkin would have been the financial B side in a major way.

It probably wouldn't take a genius to predict that the financial balance would likely shift towards Golovkins over time. Why make a fight today (even if the option had been on the table) for $750K when you can make it in a year for $1.5 mil?

Like I say, I'm in favour of a Ward - Golovkin fight, but Ward could well be the toughest opponent Golovkin will ever face. Probably it's a good idea to get the best payday he can for it and that sure as hell ain't now with Golovkin potentially close to unification and Ward still apparently no closer to a ring return and long out of the public eye.

With all do respect to David P. Greisman, how are you going to write all of that and not touch on the very real possibility of Canelo beating Cotto and becoming lineal middleweight champion? While I agree Cotto will not face GGG, the more likely scenario is Canelo beating Cotto who would be much more willing to fight GGG. That's "what's next" imo.

He's to short for super middleweight and light heavyweight. Stay right where you are triple g. He will rule all middle weights over time like Hopkins did if he's good enough. Cotton has no business at middleweight. He stays there even as good as he is he's done. Junior middleweight is where he belongs

Why would any true boxing fan wanna see fights they absolutely know the outcome of. Mismatches.

But let's see if Canelo fights him next year. If not, move up, it's getting boring now

Fight ward or Hopkins. They would both fight ggg

The only fighter at 168 who has said he would fight GGG is Ward. There are two problems with that. 1 is we do not even know if Ward can legally fight, and even is that obstacle was overcome, we do not know if that fight can FINANCIALLY be made. Both guys will want giant paydays and it is definitely no PPV fight.

He would basically have to jump right up to 175, and he is not any 175 pound fighter
The GGG Ward fight needs to Marinate a year or so....

GGG will be more famous 18 months from now...

Ward needs get His Act together and work on His Brand....

Haha, all these haters are scrambling saying cotto or Canelo isn't gonna happen... All these haters seemed to be 90% ***** fan base....

These same haters can now guarantee GGG a fight with ward and JR who both hasn't fought, but they want everyone to believe that GGG is dreaming if he can get a fight with two active fighters who will be fighting in GGG weight class?

                    Golovkin not proven yet?

Quote, "Golovkin, a middleweight titleholder seen as being perhaps the best in his division, has not yet gotten the opportunity to prove himself".
Disagree. One has to just watch his fight against Kassim Ouma and see. He was driven into deep water. It was a vicious back-and-forth exchange of bombs to realise that Golovkin indeed can go deep-sea fishing without much ado. He proved himself there.
