It's like saying New York is neutral territory. No way in hell is that neutral territory, even though there's loads of nationalities. New York is home court for Cotto. It will be jam packed with Puerto Ricans. Mexicans?

There is no easy venue decision for this fight. Someone will have a SIGNIFICANT advantage when it comes to venue.
NY has a lot of Mexicans too. NY has a lot of nationalities, Period. But in NY you are more likely to get a decision if you are Canelo, than if you are Cotto in Texas or LA.

Just to give folks some scope, $25m at the gate would mean that, on PPV, the fight would be sold for $100 per home and 3.5m homes would have to buy the fight, a near full million homes more, at basically double the price, than the most bought fight in the history of the sport.

And even with that, it'd still be under.

Pacquiao gets $40m on the front-end, and Mayweather make $60m+ on the back-end. Even at those numbers, you're looking at a $200m revenue fight, which is just short of the prior revenue record. lol
Prior revenue record? Pacquiao has a much bigger fanbase than canelo

The Puerto Ricans who were in Vegas to support Cotto vs Pacquiao reminded me a lot of the sheer volume of Brits who took over Vegas when Hatton fought Mayweather
If Cotto vs. Canelo happens, and it's in Vegas, the Puerto Ricans will be outnumbered in the venue BIG TIME. I mean, BIG TIME. Many, many, many of them won't be able to get tickets. Please don't compare.

If Canelo fought in New York, there will be a lot of Mexicans in the venue if it's against anyone not named Cotto. But if he goes against Cotto, those Mexicans won't be able to get tickets, and they will be outnumbered significantly.

Good luck on negotiating this fight.

Between Puerto Ricans and Mexicans, I really don't know which nationals have the superior ticket master skills. All I know is that the amount of Puerto Ricans and Brits I witnessed in Vegas was ridiculous.

Yes, NY has a lot of everything. But if Canelo goes against Cotto in New York, the Puerto Ricans will outnumber the Mexicans significantly. It won't even be funny. Those Mexicans will have a very difficult time finding tickets. Did you see how low the Martinez fans were at the Garden? The Argentinians were DROWNED by the Puerto Ricans. This is not even a discussion.

Vegas = Canelo, New York = Cotto. Canelo has a better chance at getting a gift no matter the venue I believe. But in New York, Cotto will at least have home court advantage with the crowd behind him. He will enter the ring as the man to beat.

If Cotto fights in Vegas, he'll enter the ring like he's the challenger. Cotto will be fighting HARD to bring the fight to New York. You watch.
This fight is going to be hell to negotiate. Ask Martinez how easy Cotto was at the table.

The Casuals represent a large part of the PPV Buys.
Garcia? Wasnt ya ****tin on pac for fighting a guy one weight class bellow? Oh wait theres double standards that apply cuz floydie fought a guy that was 2 weight classes below him, cheated him on the scales and laughed about it.

.....which is why it makes sense for Cotto/Canelo to take place in a big venue. IDK how Cotto vs. Foreman did from a business standpoint, but maybe Cotto-Canelo in Citifield/Yankee Stadium is an idea worth exploring.

In the West Coast, from California to Nevada, the Mexican population outnumbers the Puerto Rican by FAAAAAAAAAR. It's not even funny.

On the East Coast, especially in like New York City, it's the Puerto Rican population that outnumbers the Mexican population by FAAAAAAAR.

It's not the size of the venue that is the issue. That is the easy part. It's the LOCATION of the venue that is going to be the nightmare come negotiation time. Whoever gets the location of venue is going to win Round 1.

I understand that. I live in Los Angeles. I haven't even met a Puerto Rican on the West Coast. That's why I won't jump to conclusions about who will fill the stadium in Vegas when I have seen with my own eyes the distance and numbers that Cotto and Hatton fans travelled to support and cheer on their guy.

Cool thing about the Cotto and Hatton fans, they were by far the most fun fans to be with at a huge fight. They both come out in massive numbers and both fan bases bring all of these instruments and drums and sing all of these songs that they all seem to know.
