    http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...r-views-subpar

The fight at Madison Square Garden generated approximately 350,000 buys on HBO PPV, Top Rank chairman Bob Arum, Cotto's promoter, told ESPN.com, a figure co-promoter Lou DiBella and HBO said was accurate.

Although based on selling that many units the fight generated more than $20 million in pay-per-view revenue, organizers projected that it would compare more closely with the 475,000 subscriptions sold for Martinez's decision victory against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a September 2012 world title fight in Las Vegas.

But let me break this down for you this way, do you think Canelo Lara really outsold Cotto Sergio near the Puerto Rican day parade.....And if Canelo in fact did sell more how come he was relegated back to regular tv, when the Cotto Lee fight was rumored for PPV still????

    Are you done yet???????
so you dismissed the tweet that dinamita posted?? espinoza clearly explains that it was cottos and canelos numbers, not just canelos...
canelo fights nonames and still makes more ppvs than cotto.. face it..

even if cotto calls the shots it would be to his advantage to make the fight in vegas...less taxes for him to pay.

and if it's in vegas, cinco de mayo weekend is the best date to fight.

But asking for the fight in May would make the most sense. It's the biggest date in boxing, and Cotto knows it.

A May date favors Canelo more than it favors Cotto. And a May date favors a fight in Vegas, rather than New York. Cotto will want to fight in New York rather than Vegas. New York favors Cotto. And if the fight happens in New York, a May date has less relevance. Canelo and Oscar are assuming a lot right now. But when they get the negotiating table with Cotto, they are in for a rude awakening.

It's going to be comical the way Cotto handles them.

A duh, he didnt clarify which was which, did he; answer that...............................

Cotto is a PPV fighter regardless these days, while Canelo has been relegated back to TV like the rest of these hypejobs.......Deal with it

Cotto doesn't care as much about the tax situation, as it has been proven time and time against with fights against Margarito, Trout, Martinez, etc. Cotto would rather fight at New York, where he's more at home and take a hit on tax, than to fight where he is a foreigner but enjoy some more cash. Cotto will only fight outside of New York if it's a situation where he doesn't have the leverage.

This is not one of those cases.

For all we know Cotto wants to fight in february and then in june against Canelo. I also doubt cotto wants to go against a mayweather card. So why all the issueabout if the guy that decides will probably pick another date
This dude nuthugging like a motherfucker!!!

To me they both deserve to be on the A or on the B. None more than the other.

Cotto has had no problem fighting in Vegas before, so I don't see why he would have a problem fighting there again.

For a big PPV fight there really isn't a debate here, May 5th weekend would make more money than any other date Cotto choses.

There is a reason Mayweather choses to fight on this date.

He had no problem fighting in Vegas before when it's against guys Cotto had no leverage against. Against Mayweather, Cotto didn't have much leverage. Pacquaio? Also, not much leverage. But against Canelo, Cotto will have more leverage. So Vegas is out of the question period.

So Margarito had all the leverage when they fought the first time?

This has some truth. But Cotto has the position of A-Side through being champion, and being that he has more lucrative fight options than Canelo does.
