Comments Thread For: Kathy Duva outlines Al Haymon's deal with NBC Sports

If I see Jose Benavidez or Jesse Magdaleno against yet another 16-14 or 15-7 fighter or any other prospect going against another fighter that does not belong on our TV sets, I am going to get a petition put together to protest to try to stop these blatant mismatches and get email addresses and phone numbers of those responsible. The networks need to stop letting fighters keep their training wheels on for eternal gravy-train setups.
I mean how ****ing hard is it to put quality fights on. I understand the lawsuit now and the beef with ODH. fine, settle it move on.Comment

She's been with NBC for years, I'd be surprised if she didn't know what was going on.
I'm not holding my breath for real fights on NBC much less NBC Sports. Haymon has to find the advertisers willing to put up big money for a sport that has been absent on NETWORK TV. We aren't talking about the ****e network here and NBC isnt fronting any money, Haymon is paying NBC not the other way around.
Keep in mind that Al's fighters are used to getting large checks, so unless they can get the advertisers, how are we to expect to see the Garcias and Broners on NBC?Comment

Isn't getting tv deals a "promoters" job? If so, what haymon is doing is illegal. And IMO the money is gonna come from floydies 200 mil contract from showtime.Comment

NBC has been beneficial for Kovalev, Rosado, Adamek, etc. I hope Haymon continues the trend. Not every match-up is going to be a home-run, but they need to have a purpose. Prospect vs. Prospect, title eliminators, veterans vs. up-and-comers, champion vs. contender are the types of match-ups that need to happen. Keep the showcase bouts to a minimum and this can work.Last edited by kiaba360; 10-02-2014, 11:50 AM.Comment

Plus not sure if NBC making anything other than the 20mil. Maybe taking the 20mil, giving 1-2 hour timeslot and walking away and seeing how he does. If successful then maybe they will want a piece. Thats just speculation though.
I like the idea. Helps the sport and gets the boxers recognition.
Dont mess this up Haymon.Comment
