What's a Guaranteed Purse?
A guaranteed purse, as it relates to the agreement made between a fighter and her/his promoter, can serve as the boxer's entire salary for a given fight or the minimum salary he stands to earn if his overall salary is dependent on a combination of factors such as PPV sales and sponsorships.
Some assume an elite fighter's revenue is directly linked to PPV sales but that link is more indirect than direct. A fighter's overall purse can be a complex undertaking and often depends on several factors, most notably his guaranteed purse and the percentage of PPV income/sponsorship revenue a fighter agrees to accept if additional streams of income factor into the contractual equation.
The contractual agreement for Pacquiao's opponent, Tim Bradley, is much easier to ascertain because 'Desert Storm' will seemingly take home a flat $5 Mil USD lump sum regardless of the number of PPV buys and revenue generated by gate sales and sponsorships. Also, in probable stark contrast to the complexity of Manny's purse, Tim Bradley's reported guarantee from his promoter, Bob Arum, matches the number reported by Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Below is a list of Manny Pacquiao's most recent "purported" actual guaranteed fight purses based on alleged statements made by his promoter. They may not match the Nevada State Athletic Commission's reports which only take into account commission agreements.
•vs. Marquez (2011): $22 Mil USD
•vs. Mosley: (2011): $20 Mil USD
•vs. Margarito (2010) $15 Mil USD
•vs. Clottey (2010) $12 Mil USD
•vs. Cotto: (2009) $7.5 Mil USD
•vs. Hatton: (2009) $12 Mil USD
* The accuracy of the figures above are not 100% confirmed
Earlier this month, Floyd Mayweather's $32 Mil USD guaranteed purse for fighting Miguel Cotto set a boxing record, exceeding Mike Tyson's $30 Mil USD guarantee he received for Holyfield vs Tyson II in 1997. However, Oscar de La Hoya owns the record for the largest overall purse in the history of the sport, receiving a purported $52 Mil USD for Mayweather vs De La Hoya in 2007.

I'm surprised you are going so hard, especially seeing how the TS argument draws such a small sample and purposely leaves out certain fights to skew the answer.
We've been posting things not from Floyd's mouth, but from other sources based on what is filed in Nevada, BY LAW!!!!
So either everyone and the commission is in on a huge conspiracy to hide something or this post and those co signing it are just wrong. At what point are you guys man enough to just say-my bad, I was wrong?Comment

you bean counters should have your own section. I'm talking a full on section for number crunchers where ye can talk about who makes this and who makes that and how so and so made 12.4% more than this other guy and why what's his face is smarter than some other dude because he earned 35.43% more than you know who over the last fiscal year.
Entertaining shit right there.Comment

Imdazed response pretty much kills your argument.

I just don't understand why you just can't post "I was wrong" and move on?Comment

Then just say that. You are absolutely right. what is also clear is that the number reported to Nevada by law is the number EVERY one uses as the guaranteed purse, even Bob, who knows manny is going to get more later.
