  • I think it's fair to say Bayless stepped in way to soon. Not MM's problem though. Truth is Maidana is not a top level fighter. He is a small WW with good reach. I'm a bit surprised at how little credit he is getting though. He fought his heart out, was strong throughout the fight and never stopped trying. That's the formula for having a chance at beating MM. You can't outspeed him. You can't outthink him. You can't outbox him. I do think you can out heart him, if that makes any sense. I've never seen MM run as he did in round 12. MM won, but Maidana broke MM. MM did not break Maidana.

I still found it entertaining because early on Maidana caught MM with a good right when MM jumped in. It was pure luck as he isn't fast enough to time MM, but it's a punch few would try.

Great performance by MM. Great performance by Maidana. Ref short changed both men by playing too big of a role. If he hadn't, I truly believe both men would have shown how great this matchup of style was, same outcome though.

Not sure PAC can do better, as he has shown to get discouraged like against JMM. But his counter speed may be an equalizer. Still a great matchup.

Khan doesn't stand a chance. MM is stronger and more accurate and has a solid chin. Once he figures the jab, it's good night for Khan.

    • This is why I didn't order the fight nor did I watch it when Floyd cried about gloves , cried about the ref than I said Madaina will need a miracle to win with sparring gloves and a ref in Floyds pocket so I said I got better things to do like going to IKEA to buy a bed room set for my son

      • Maidana came in with a different game plan and it didn't work well for him. It seemed like he was trying to box a little more and control his aggression as oppose to bringing that same balls out pressure from the first fight. Maidana actually looked like a decent boxer (a very sluggish boxer but a boxer nonetheless)and not a brawler, and this in turn cost him the fight.
As far as Mayweather, he did not look the same either. He looked scared, worried, and at time unsure of himself. You could really see this whenever Maidana landed a clean shot ,it buzzed Mayweather, and made him think a little too much. It almost seemed like he kept second guessing himself, he didn't really flow into his rhythm like he usually does. Maidana, in my opinion, had the mental edge this time around, but just couldn't exploit it. As far as all the physical attributes though, I saw the same ol' Money May. His reflexes were sharp, his foot-work was great, when he let his hands go, the speed was there too. I mean he obviously isn't the same as say 10 years ago, but he hasn't declined much either. Does this all of a sudden make him any more or less "beatable" than before? Who knows. In my opinion Mayweather is beatable, very beatable in fact, he always has been, just for some reason everybody falls short and they keep coming with the WRONG game-plan.

One thing I didn't care for too much was the few times he "fell", the "KENNY HELP ME FACE" and the complete acting job he did after the alleged "BITE-GATE".

One more thing guys, one more thing. You can't say "Mayweather was hugging and clinching too much the entire fight" and then with a straight face turn around and say, "I can't believe the **** job Bayless did, by trying to separate them too much and make sure they didn't clinch"..lol..Think about it.

        With that being said 47-0.

        • wasnt that good of a fight.

i duno. is this the pure boxing that everyone talks about when it comes to floyd?

where do you draw the line between pure boxing and just throwing 1/2 shots and running.

i havent got beef with floyd but ive never really enjoyed watching any of his fights whereas people come on here and wax lyrical about how the fight went, maybe im missing it completely and need to find a different sport to follow...

garcia said before the fight that they would get to wear 8oz gloves, so there goes the glove excuse, he tried to knee him in the nuts now he bites him...
Tyson Tyson was sentenced with a permanent suspension from boxing and his license cancelled forever. He was also fined $3,000,000 and had to serve long hours of community service. Thats what Maidana deserves and Garcia needs to be disciplined for being an accessory. Hes gonna lose his check for the fight. I hope he can borrow some money for a plane ticket back home.

            • I am so disappointed in Marcos.

That was not the same Marcos Maidana that we saw on May 3rd of last year.

I was worried that he would "BOX" Floyd.. and look what we get.

I'm a Floyd fan, but THAT!? That was Floyd fighting the same.. and Marcos fighting different.

I was still expecting a competitive fight, but Floyd changed NOTHING while Marcos changed EVERYTHING.

Honestly.. Marcos was no where near that "I DON'T GIVE A FUH" mother FUH that he was from the first fight. To me, he was trying to be a boxer.. and failed.

Marcos almost gave Floyd his first L and this time around, to me, he was far from doing it again.

Why he tried to outbox one of the best boxers in history behind an ineffective jab is beyond me.

I thought it would be a closer fight, but it wasn't.

I was really looking for that rough and tumble, wide looping Marcos from the first fight.

              He didn't show up.

Dah well, I'm still half drunk.. im out

              • The big question is still :

Name the WW PRIME ELITE that JR has fought that defines his WW career making him TBE

For instance Clay fought the killer SONNY LISTON,,,, Then as ALI fought Frazier,,,,then fought PRIME ELITE Champion George Foreman

Name JR's prime Elites. Maidana has never been a prime elite WW

PRIME ELITES are the likes of Duran, Leonard, Pacquiao, Hearns, Cotto, Pacquiao, Hagler, Margo not Balto hahahahahaha, Pacquiao, Williams,

Why is this question so hard for the Joy boys to answer ?????

                answer:
                VVVVVVVVVVVV

I'll gladly pay to see Pacquiao whoop Algieri.

I'll be glad the day that Mayweather gets his bum ass out of boxing.
Undefeated or not, he wouldn't have fought who was put in front of him, and I'll always believe that he is very beatable, it's just smoke in mirrors that he's undefeated.

I ALWAYS pay to see Pacquiao.. HE IS ALWAYS entertainment. And comes to FIGHT!!!. Even with no Undercard. Pacquiao is always worth $70

                  • All I know is the commentators at Showtime were being extremely biased last night. When Mike Tyson was getting head butted in the face and had his head busted open by Evander Holyfield no one excused him for biting. But now because Floyd is putting his glove in Maidana's face he deserves to have his hand bitten? I hope Maidana never fights again. Anybody who gets in the ring with him after this is just ******. He is a dirty fighter to the point of biting. And Paulie Malignaggi considers it to be fair game. When Kell Brook was doing a ridiculously excessive amount of holding in his fight against Porter the commentators had nothing to say but they act like what Mayweather did last (which wasn't even close to the amount of holding by Brook) made him deserve to have a point be taken. It's ridiculous.

I think I qualify as a "floydiot" in your lil mutant world. And I made it clear in my original post that I thought Bayless did a bad job. That said, when you're a fighter like Maidana, who's basically dependant on being allowed to fight dirty to be successful, things like ladt night can happend. Especially when you're in their with marquee guys.
