Health comes first, when it's time to keep Floyds "0". All this talk about making this sport a safer place, yet we see his Gym being ran like a circus, everything we saw was against what he preaches.
He is going to come back to you with the same response "Still have no clue what you're talking about"

Only he can tell us if he is pretending to be ignorant or not .......

Noticed the dude floyd sparred???, he looked like a fat ******, Would floyd go in there with someone like Dirrel, or haye, or something and go all out until someone quits ??? get beaten up heeelllllllll ****ing no.

The reality is that he does it for selvpleasure, intertaiment, he loves that he can get people to dance around his feet, and beat each other silly, just to impress him, he couldn't care less if the get ruined as fighters.

The say that with great power come great responsibility, Floyd uses that power to make everyone around him toys he can use and abuse for his intertaimanet.

The fame and attention mixed with a ****ty childhood, have created a monster, deluded beyond comprehension.
He is like a gadaffi or saddam hussain

I really really don't like this man, and I now know that as soon as he gets humbled in the ring, he is dead
Actually i agree with you, ist time that Floyd gets his butt kicked. It is long overdue. I watched that Video and while i think rough and tough Sparring is good, they really made fun about a young 18 year old novice that got his butt kicked but an older and stronger opponent. Thats pathetic. That was actually the jounger son of Hasim Rahman but his older brother revenged him and that was pretty cool.
BTW, do you think Floyd will take his own life when he gets whooped in the ring?

Things like this aren't every day, but it is usefull to know how to pick your spots and save energy so that you can go for 30 min.

The only difference really between going 30 min, and going 10 rounds is that your opponent gets to rest and you have a rested opponent throwing punches at you for more of the time.

Gym wars in general are bad, but they happen. Some gyms are famous for them, like the Kronk.

Gym wars imply some sort of give and take between relatively well matched guys, if it's a one sided beat down what's the point, in training, for sustaining something like that? That's why standing 8 counts and other sideline ref type stuff is used in gyms. So that developing fighters aren't seriously hurt because of too much, too soon.
Man, get out of here with that ****. That IS how young fighters are brought up. You move them around with guys at their level most the time, and then throw them in with the lions on occasion so they can learn from an ass whooping, and keep moving forward, otherwise they stagnate.

Its been like that since fighters started fighting.

          • Nothing wrong with a good old gym war and a few side bets.

Brit guy already trained, fought then had a 30 odd minute round with another. #BEAST!

Besides I thought fans was all up for fighters fighting till death anyway? lol

Brutal sparring for more then 2 rounds vs a slightly better fighter is a tool you can use, but with respect, but fighting to someone until someone gets koèd is just ******, and none productive.
Its like a running coach telling his students to run up spurts until the pass out and crash, only this is even more worse, getting koéd is a very very bad thing, emotionally, and physically full stop.
Good coaches show compassion to there fighter and knows have to protect him.

If maidana knocks out floyd, or broners him, but with a brutal ko ending, I think floyd will be a completely different human being, and yes i wouldn't be surprised if he shots himself

              • Mayweather's gym isn't unique in this way. That's the standard "old school" boxing gym approach. You weed out the wannabes and make fighters less likely to "break" under pressure by... Letting someone way better than them beat the piss out of them every day (irony being that Andre Dirrell who wets himself under pressure was used in a video example on this thread...).

New school like all the combo MMA/boxing gyms popping up uses baby steps and tame sparring which makes it harder to separate the wannabes from the real fighters, BUT, at least guys aren't punchy/shot before they even have a pro fight.

People are quickly realizing the latter is a lot better than the former. A few wannabes who can't handle pain slipping through the net isn't a big deal, destroying your own prospects is.

                • Why is it disgusting? The people want it theirselves, they don't have to do it. And they want to be seen and maybe get signed, so what's the problem.

These sparring sessions are nothing compared to the Anne Wolfe camp. Ask her, ask Kirk, ask anyone who has been there.

Another thing: better get a ass whopping in the ring with head gear and 14 oz gloves than as a professional boxer, without headgear and 8 or 10 oz gloves. If you are not ready for the doghouse, you are not ready for competing professional.

Which fans are you talking about? Certain slick boxers shouldn't be having these wars you know ...that is only reserved for our brawlers/face first mindless fighters remember? I bet you each and every guy complaining about this is going for one side. We all know it isn't that slick boxer side either. Only real boxers/fans know how it really gets down in "real" boxing gyms. This is the norm. Deal with it. If you can't stand the heat get the **** out the kitchen.

"They don't have to do it" but most of them will because it's Floyd Mayweather and they don't want to lose face. I get the sense that if you're in that crowd it's what you do, period, whether you want to do it or not.

Getting brutalized doesn't make you better at anything besides (maybe) reacting more calmly under extreme pressure. It doesn't improve your timing, reflexes, or punch resistance. Yes, it culls the weak from the strong... but it also makes the strong weaker too.

I'm not going to knock the gym culture but I agree with pretty much everyone here who already said that it doesn't appear to be working well for anyone besides Mayweather.
