  • This wasn't sparring, they were actual fights with headgear. Doesn't take a scientists to see that.

The only ref in the ring here, wasn't looking out for health or safety but to cheer on the beating, and then mock the loser in front of everyone. - FACT

Do you know how many fighters lives have been saved by a referee stopping the fight even when the fighter doesn't want to because they were to hurt to continue? - FACT Based Question

      - NOT a fact

Athletes in general are NOT conditioned to such "extremes"... what a ridiculous blanket statement.

I have... and that has nothing to do with anything we're talking about specifically here.

      lol ok
Resort to cherry pick the least important parts of your post. Answer two questions,
Do you really believe this guys weren't conditioned to work for 30 minutes?

Were you there? You seem to know that they "beat the living **** out of each other.

Quit being sensitive I bolded a part of your post for a reason. Mine quote more to show me your lack of real arguments.

professional prize fighting is two men fighting each other for people's entertainment value. if you watch boxing, you shouldnt have a problem with that video. otherwise, you are just hypocritically cherry picking.

What is the motive of a fighter to fight in a sanctioned bout?

What was the initial motive of the guys that sparred in that all access clip?

I'm well aware of the health risk in the sport of boxing... the health risk here is astronomically higher here.... beating the living **** out of each other and cheered and pressured to do so, for 30 minutes straight without stopping and the only way the fight gets stopped is if one of the fighters quit on his own.

The only ref in the ring here, wasn't looking out for health or safety but to cheer on the beating, and then mock the loser in front of everyone.

This has brain damage written all over it.
Well said, again I didn't think opinions would vary this much, I thought most would have been of this opinion.

              • I have been thinking about this thread and asked myself some questions to come to an opinion. I do know that there is rough training. I know how we trained martial arts, I have heard of Kronk.

Heres the interesting thing: Floyd's stabile. His guys are not particularly tough, or good. So in one sense that proves that this training culture is counterproductive. I mean I like the point made here that asks what is the value of taking punshment of this nature? It apparently is a great question.

Mas Oyama used to be known as a hard ass, his guys fought the hardest and beat everyone at the time in full contact karate, so the training made sense. I don;t see that correlation in the performance vis a vis the training culture that permits this with Floyd's guys.

Couldn't have put it better REED! What went on was disgraceful, no class what so ever. The way they let an 18 year old spar that guy that was far bigger than him non stop was also disgusting. I've always respected Mayweather as a fighter and admired his skills, however over the years I've lost more and more respect for him as a person, that episode of all access sums up why to be honest.

                  • I can see no benefit to it at all either, fighters have had short careers because of being rushed and taking too much punishment too early, how can this benefit their long term career in boxing?

                    • Gym wars happen

Making fun of someone with a concussion when you preach "health comes first"
"I have best interests of my fighters" as the premier fighter of the sport

Actually those guys aren't even signed to tmt right? Would he do that his own tmt fighters? Doubt it
