floyd was competing against grown men from the age of 13 or 14 and sparring them long before that. his dad would always put him in with older and bigger kids.

there is no doubt in my mind that floyd has done this, not recently but in his young days. at this point there is nothing he could learn from it.

it doesnt teach technique obviously (i never said it did), but it does teach you to maintain whatever technique you have in during full intensity fighting. like i said before, defending half assed punches with a full gas tank is easy. defending punches thrown with bad intentions when you are dead tired is something entirely different.

george foreman once said mayweather was the best he has seen since ali at fighting when he is tired. emmanuel steward once said floyd had some of the best mental conditioning he has ever seen, the ability to stay focused every second of every round regardless of whats happening.

thats what floyd is trying to teach these guys. this is mental training.

It was schoolyard sht having the older brother demanding sparring because his big mouth little brother took an L.
they didnt spar back to back. the narrator clearly says "by days end the word of.."

he did just have a full days gym work while the other guy walked in fresh ready to spar. but it wasnt back to back sparring.

hasim jr wasnt there when it happened, he heard of it and showed up later in the day.

back to back sparring isnt a big deal though depending on just how much you did. i went 4-6 rounds with one guy only to do the same with a fresh body right afterwards on countless occassions.

      its called being in shape.

Like I said in my previous reply to you....."mental conditioning" was not the purpose of the sparring , it was for entertainment and came about after a guy from a foreign country challenges a former world champion to spar to test his skills vs that calibre of opponent then a kid tries to show off to mayweather, gets beat, then a crowd gathers to see big bro vs him, the way the crowd was acting was childish

          • It is extraordinary that Showtime would film that and actually put it in the final edit. The deleterious effects of making a Faustian bargain I suppose.

            • You do know even in the amateurs you spar 15 minute rounds get out the ring run in place do some push up hit the bag breathe for five minutes and line up to spar again and that was when I was 14-15. Mayweather is asking this guys to do nothing to extreme I have seen him spare 60-70 minutes using 5-6 guys. Y'all hate so much it's crazy.

But since it is nonstopfloydhatingboxingscene, people will hate on the kool aid his daughter is drinking and posting on twitter, and people will cry about the sparring in floyd's gym

freddie roach isn't always at wildcard, but if he saw guys doing that in his gym he'd probably kick them out.

they spar hard at wildcard, but they're under the supervision of trainers, and working on things. those guys were not sparring. they were fighting to settle a dispute.

                • Man there are a bunch of spineless pussies on the site. This is how it is on a gym, the kid was being a loud mouth and got popped for it, it happens in every gym. He asked to get in there.

They're not fighting to the death or anything quit being dramatic. They fought until one couldn't continue, big deal. It's not like they were forced to do it.

I've sparred several times overtime because of bad blood and it's not like we continue hitting someone even after they calls it quits.

                      No good came of it.

i guess you're not a fan of professional prize fighting either in that case.
