not the gym i go to. sparring is done in a controlled/civil environment with proper breaks and they're not there to kill each other because they know sparring is meant to work on certain skills.

i have seen a couple of times guys get badly hurt from a shot (not dropped though) and the sparring would be immediately stopped.

This is my poignant argument doe.

      That, and..."it's sparring."

that's a very relevant argument. there are several ways to argue. my establishing you as a mayweather fanboy establishes that you have no credibility.

now you're establishing that you don't know much about argument. if you really want a lesson on what's known as "ethos," i can give it to you.

      • I thought it was the best part of the episode, it was sick seeing Rahman Jr fight that British kid.

I dont understand what people are getting upset about, they obviously dont spar like that all the time but I'm sure it happens. Theres a lot of big egos in a freaking boxing gym what do u expect?

how do you know? that's why it's important to call the proper authorities so they can investigate.

the video evidence is the perfect lead to go on.

i've worked out at several boxing gyms in massachusetts, and an MMA gym in new york. i'm thinking about joining another gym in the merrimack valley.

30 minute marathon sparring sessions, trainers getting in the face of an 18 year old kid who has just taken a beating, is not common.

this likely isn't even common in the mayweather gym. this was an embarrassing look for the gym.

Look at you all butthurt. You can't even get back on topic now. Yeah cling to that fanboy argument because that's all you've got.

              • Surely a gym is a space to nurture and develop talent? To encourage the growth of character? . . . . . And maybe theirs usually is. But, it stopped being a gym at that point and became Floyd's personal fiefdom and those in it the entertainment of boxing's spoilt man-child.

What I found disagreeable were those at ringside, clearly never having laced a pair of gloves, mocking and jeering. To over match someone in a sparring session and then belittle him when he gets hurt was pretty low on Floyd's part.

I don't have an issue with the brutality or the intense atmosphere per se. But, where's the opportunity for these fighters to fail? To make mistakes and learn by them, and to be challenged to go beyond themselves in an atmosphere that's supportive, where when they do overreach they'll receive corrective advice and support?

Instead they're mocked and jeered, filmed on camera phones and laughed at by Floyd and his court jesters then no doubt discarded in favour of next weeks entertainment. Those who are willing to go 30 + minutes straight in what amounts to a gloved street fight can stick around, for now, 'cause Floyd got a momentary kick out of 'em.

I don't know. Maybe he does it in part to whittle down the numbers. There's not room I'm sure for every one who wants to train at his gym. The fact that he does it at all is disturbing but not unexpected from a man who has to pay 'friends' and women to keep his company. I imagine he went home, sat in one of his spacious bathrooms, and in a moment of rare solitude pulled the legs from a spider to alleviate his boredom.

So did I. And clearly there's a method to the madness. That dude wanted to fight Ishe and they wouldn't let him.

                  • What happened in Floyd's gym was by no means productive sparring. Neither guy learnt anything, neither of them had any trainer to tell them what adjustments they had to make. What went on in there was devoid of any regulation, no referee, no trainers, no medical professionals on hold etc. The guy who win the sparring session gets a boost to his ego & the loser probably realized not to call people out & get a beating publicly/be the laughing stock.

                    • This gym is run by floyd sr, roger and Jeff. How do you think they sparred coming up in Michigan?

Maybe this is why the state produces so many champions. I also think the point made by many about careers flaming out early is fair.
