      It's strange move for sure.

Afaik Jay-Z has some kind of deal with HBO away from boxing, I think they cover Beyonce world's tour and there are rumours he has come in to bat for them. All speculation at this point of course.

I can understand wanting to spend time with your newborn. that said, with a newborn, you'd think he'd JUMP at this much money since, win or lose, he can use that money to support his newborn.

Guess Haymon's past issues with Jay Z are not resolved.

Quillan and Haymon looking pretty bad right now. Imagine the backlash if this fight doesnt get made.

In the past, 1M was a bare minimum. Now 1M is some sort of accomplishment for HBO. FWIW, I tuned in, but the rest of America ignored it.
And what kind of ratings are Showtime pulling in this summer with their Americans (which are the only fighters Americans like to watch) fighters?

            I'll wait.

In this case, I don't think it is Quillin. He has no choice. Take the nice check and defend, or choose not to and have no title to defend.

I think this is Haymon and Golden Boy. They want it on showtime, and they still can if they do a split site broadcast. HBO has done it, they can also.

Yeah, it makes no sense and we haven't heard from quillin, just Gomez. we've seen fighters not sign for fights involving significantly more money, but those fighters have made significantly more than quillin.

Can't see them making quillin give this much up.

What is weird is Arum did not cry when Lomachenko ended up on showtime. They don't care this time either. A purse bid is a purse bid. Let the winner of the bid worry about the locale, arrangements and networks. That is the purse winners responsibility. Haymon and GBP should not even care. They can just sit back and collect their slice of Quillin's purse.

True, he didn't. I don't think it about the network. It may be about GBP/Haymon or Haymon/Jay Z issues.

If i'm quillin then I'd be screaming about this because this is the type of payday a fighter like him doesn't often get.
