These guys are nothing alike, one is a farce and ther other is a legit talent.
One is white so they find it necessary to belittle him for some reason. Same guys in every thread. Usually all the Floyd **** riders..

The star driven model. see my above post and Kiaba,s.

With all due respect, despite the salka crap and the Herrera fight (a loss IMO even though he got the w) Danny has beaten Khan and Matthysse. when GGG beats as good an opponent (and if he can't at MW, he can go to 168 like he said, I know someone who is waiting for him) then talk to me.

Boxing fans watch boxing matches, whether they are good or bad match-ups. If this had been PPV, it would have been different, but there would have still been some who would have paid for it. I think it was GBP VP Eric Gomez who said they picked Salka because he had a similar style to Herrera. This may have garnered some interest to see if that style would once again trouble Garcia. Too bad Gomez didn't mention that Salka is built like a 12 year old.

I don't think the 'casuals' had anything to do with this fight, it was mostly fans of the sport who tuned in. I wouldn't call a rating of 800k a showing that brought in many casuals. That's reserved for PPV matches and HBO/Showtime cards that bring in 1.5+ million in ratings (we haven't had many in a while).

And again, what exactly is a "star driven model?" Boxing on a subscription service channel? All boxers are supposed to do that aren't they?

if mismatches hurt the sport-fine I agree. If only showtime mismatches hurt the sport-than we both know what the deal is.
I just don't understand how you can compare them. Come on man, you stop it

                  The facts:

Caparello was ranked in all sanctioning bodies rankings

Caparello is actually in the division Kovalev fights in

This fight did not headline a complete card on HBO

Danny Garcia got paid 600k for a tuneup fight against the #77 ranked fighter two divisions below him.... at a catchweight. Kovalev probably got paid peanuts to stay busy against a top 15 ranked fighter. Whom he only fought because his attempt at unifying the division fell through.

On top of all that..... Kovalev nor his team are saying he's the greatest thing since sliced breat for beating Caparello. They immediately signed a unification fight with Hopkins. Meanwhile, Espinoza, Gomez and everybody else involved with Salka-Garcia is justifying it and actually saying Salka earned it

Kovalev-Caparello was not nearly as bad as Garcia-Salka. it's not even in the same stratosphere.

Was it a mismatch? Yes. But you know the reasons for this mismatch, and Kovalev isn't getting paid half a million for that mismatch.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the hardcore fans tuned in just simply for the freak show of it all. A champ fighting a guy coming up from a weight class below -- who was rated SEVENTY-SEVENTH in his class???

We see some big mismatches in this sport but this was one of the worst...EVER. It was like watching a car wreck. You don't want to look...but you can't help yourself out of sheer curiosity.

Networks getting ratings by using stars as opposed to great matchups, especially on ppv.
