No, he was the best opponent HBO would approve and main events made a deal with. This was his 1st fight as part of his new HBO deal. Historically, HBO gives fighters on a new deal a squash in the 1st fight.

So we are clear- I watched both fights, as I did GGG/Gaele. my only response was the notion that only showtime airing crap fights is bad for the sport.

I would think we can agree that logic is faulty.

100x Better than expected, with a Full Schedule of NFL Pre Season Football going on that day and all the negativity all week about this Card I was expecting maybe less than 500k viewers but it shows that the cry babies on the internet have ZERO POWER and their opinions hold no weight, most of the time it is just a few guys with multiple Alt accounts making all the noise and posting all the negative stuff anyway

Good for Danny Garcia, being hated in boxing is not a bad thing at all, if anything IT IS A GREAT THING!

Fat Dan numbers does seem more realistic of what the views Should Have Been!

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the hardcore fans tuned in just simply for the freak show of it all. A champ fighting a guy coming up from a weight class below -- who was rated SEVENTY-SEVENTH in his class???

We see some big mismatches in this sport but this was one of the worst...EVER. It was like watching a car wreck. You don't want to look...but you can't help yourself out of sheer curiosity.

that reminds me of how morgan freeman describes boxing in million dollar baby. i was disgusted with the fight, never said i wasn't gonna watch it. it's not saturday night without some boxing

i didn't' watch the fight at all on saturday. i refused to watch it! refffuuuuusssseeeeeddddd

i tried convincing everyone that there was no fight on saturday and i even went as far as trying to pretend danny garcia didn't exist so that people would believe me and not watch. but NOTHING worked! people still watched it.

i can sleep well at night knowing i didn't' support a disgusting horrendous mismatch.

boxing is entering WWE/joke status. i might start watching tennis instead now.
