Fury fought like an idiot in that fight, for the reasons denium and myself have already mentioned, and that's why he got himself in a position to be dropped. He didn't respect Cunningham's power, repeatedly referring to him in the build up as a tiny cruiserweight, and wasn't expecting any serious return fire. When it did come it caught him by surprise and dropped him. That's all there is to it really.

If you want to make a bigger deal out of it than it was then go ahead.
I'm not making it a big deal. I just find it rather amusing that so many Fury fans try to brush it off as a flash knockdown. And you can also make as many excuses for Fury as you want but the facts are the facts.

Tyson was dropped by two small heavyweights with KO% of 37% and 28%. In my opinion neither one of them were flash knockdowns. Firtha was also able to knock the snot out of Fury for a least a round and he really was stinging him. And he has a whooping 24% KO ratio. You can argue that that was along time ago and Fury is different now. But I will ask you what has he done to improve his chin?

And regardless of what Fury might do on Oct. 24, 2015, whether it be that he switches form southpaw to orthodox or if he throws 110 punches a round or goes in there and leans on him, Wlad will still connect with power at some point. And unlike Steve it won't have to be the supposed best punch he ever threw in his career.

When that happens I believe Tyson will see the great white flash and he will be out before he hits the floor. By the way Lennox Lewis doesn't give Fury much of a chance against Wlad.

fury would have beat purrity. lamon brewster would have been a toss up and sorry but sanders would have taken fury;s head off within 2 rounds. fury still fights with his chin in the air and a counter punching southpaw with sneakiness would have made him pay dearly

hes also more skilled than the lardass, and has more power than him.
I used to think Wlad was deceptively quick, but I'm not even sure it was a deception, more so it just widely is not accepted or likely looked beyond as his detractors believe it will take somebody fast to beat him ie hence the reason they keep throwing their weight behind guys like Haye and Fury, again I'm not even sure Fury is the fast, he's slick and light on his feet for a big man, but man he is one BIG target and I just see Wlad tagging him at will.

Yet many Fury fan posters here are eager to point out Fury has the stamina, has the better skills, IQ, whatever else they claim - but that isn't what is needed to win this fight. I am sure Peter knows that Fury probably can't take Wlad's power, and knows Tyson WILL get clocked at some point. That's why they are looking at it as a last man standing/someone WILL be knocked out fight.

Only problem is, aside from somehow overpowering Wlad and knocking him out by beating him up on the inside, I don't see Fury having the power to do that any other way.

I DO really see this as a similar fight to the Pulev one, and yes you can say they are very different fighters - but both present Wlad with similar problems in terms of height and length, solid jabs, and perhaps physical strength. Fury is the far better mover to Pulev but movement isn't going to be much help to him if he wants to knock Wlad out. I think it will be a similar fight in terms of Fury causing some trouble early with his unorthodox style and long jabs, but as soon as he comes short and tries to rough Wlad up, that left hook is going to get in a gap and Fury is going to end up on his ass. Similarly to the Pulev fight, I expect him to get up repeatedly till he gets put down once and for all.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's another left hook, as Fury seems susceptible to both looping shots, as shown in USS fight, and big left hands - as in the Abell fight.

Harder nights work for Wlad, and no doubt an exciting fight for the fans, but the end result will likely be the same.
Do you believe what Peter says ? The only way I could see Fury beating Haye would be to stay on his bike all night, lets not forget Haye had huge problems with Valuev and that guy could barely move.

I'm just not expecting Fury to go toe to toe with Wlad, In many ways I wish he would, not least so we can get onto Wilder sooner rather than later for WBC unification, that's about all that is left for Wlad and maybe the 25 consecutive defences to establish himself the GOAT.

          • Did Vladimir lose a step? Maybe. But he beats Fury on experience and more than two decades of craftmanship. Just look at their resumes and put things into perspective. Look at Vlad's pedigree. Fury is way in over his head, as I mentioned previously, he needed to fight more top ten guys before stepping up against the champion. This will show come Oct 24, folks.

            • I think the fight goes one of two ways; we'll see a more aggressive Wladimir and he will knock Fury out early or Fury makes it a total stinker by cautiously boxing trying to frustrate Wladimir with movement. I don't see Wlad stinking it out here though he has a lot lately.

I believe Wlad has lost a step, probably only natural given his age and the fact he has around 70 pro fights along with a lengthy amateur career but I feel we might just see the best Wladimir we have in a long time.

I think he will come out and let that right hand go early and more often as he tends to against bigger men and I really don't see Fury taking it too well.

I've always felt Wladimir fights at his best against similar sized/bigger opponents than him.

One of two ways Fury comes to fight and gets knocked out, shows heart but ultimately gets blown out or he basically comes to survive.
I don't give Fury much chance at all here. He is a Jack of all trades, master of none. He does most things well, nothing great.
Hasn't fought big men, hasn't fought anyone remotely good. Its a huge ask.

Slightly possible if he immediately signs exclusive contracts to fight sub contender journeymen for the next 3-4 years. Still as history has proven on multiple occasions, some of them may spark him out.

If Wlad has to stalk a light fleet of foot Fury and still wins is that not a more convincing victory ? I really don't see the height and reach discrepancies playing a huge roll in this, I've seen Fury's fights and its not as though he utilises them superbly, had Steward have trained he'd be one slick oiled pristine fighting machine, who on earth has his uncle trained apart from Eddie Chambers who hasn't been relevant since Wlad took his soul.
Well....Vlad's fans have been giving him credit for wins and that would remain in force. people like myself, who don't see much in Vlad would be forced to admit this was a good victory. For the record I have no problem giving credit where it is due.

When lewis was champ, young guys coming up often were given an opportunity. For example, Briggs, Grant, Morrison, to name a few. I ould put a victory against Fury in the same category as a win (at that time) against Briggs. Fury's family are in the game and they are trainers. This is why Fury is boxing now, I don't think this is a relative disadvantage for Fury. Peter Fury looks like and sounds like a real taskmaster. Fury listens to him.

Fury has a learning curve in process. He did use his size to beat cunningham, which is what he should have done from the beginning, but he has made an effort to box and not to slug it out. In my opinion the best thing that could have happened to Fury was to have the haye fight which he would have probably lost, but would have accelerated his learning.

Take the Tony Thompson fight - when Wlad was this 'different animal'.

What separates Sanders Wlad from Thompson Wlad?? Nothing.

He got tagged with straight left hand lead leads throughout that fight. He looked **** on average against a slow , light hitting southpaw.
Judging by that performance , its clear as day Sanders would have cleaned his clock again.
And don't speak to me about improved defence. Clinching and holding is not defence.

Thats contact. A great defensive boxer will not be touched. Mauling and holding is being touched= Contact.
Thompson was held and clinched all night.
Wlad holds on for life because he has no defence. Sanders threw Wlad off him like a wet blanket when he got held. More likely than not - he does it again.

When a guy defeats somebody SO easily like Sanders done to Wlad - there is absolutely no case for the guy who was destroyed winning a second fight. Unless he proved it in the ring. He never proved it in the ring.
Sanders destroyed Wlad and no ifs or buts will ever change that.
Amen! As a kid I worked in a group home for guys with very extreme disabilites, I mean on the order of not even being verbal. There was this one aggressive chap, we will call him "frankie" and he would attack, when you had to grab him and he became "defensive" he would throw his hands out, panick and sort of close his eyes knowing that if he couldn't see return fire he was ok. That is where Vlad stole his defense....I am convinced.
