I don't know how you win a fight by going backwards the entire fight.

Round 12 Algieri was straight up running and refusing to engage.

Boxing isn't about running, if you don't want to fight you shouldn't get in the ring. I don't like the direction the sport is going.

We need more Maidanas and less Andre Dirrells

Are you going to pay for medical bills or funeral when someone dies. If Chris had stayed in the pocket ,this fight would had not gone past 4 rounds. He did the right thing ,its not his fault Ruslan Gassed out after 4 rounds the guy got expose real bad last night ,I actually think he'll be stronger at WW.

anyone that says Algieri moved backward the whole fight has no clue at all. that was effective boxing and movement. Algieri outlanded him by 80 or so punches and landed more power shots. After the 1st rd, Algieri won most rds imo. its not rockem sock em robots- its boxing. Algieri used side to side movement - he wasn't moving backwards often at all.

Did Team Provodnikov watch tapes of Algieri before the fight? That's his style.

Only fighters with limited skills complain that their opponent ran all night. If Provodnikov was a skilled fighter, he would have been able to catch and beat Algieri regardless of how Algieri fought.

The fact that he admits that he could only win if Algieri fought Provodnikov's fight proves that Provodnikov is not a world class fighter. That is the equivalent of a Football team A saying all their opponent, Football team B, did was pass the ball all night, and if Team B had run the ball 98 percent of the time, Team A would have won. Team A should be able to stop their opponent regardless of the opposition's game plan.

Boxing isn't wrestling or jiu jitsu. You don't win by having the dominant position.

You win by punching. Algieri moved backwards while outlanding Ruslan 288 (29%) to 205 (26%).

This is no surprise to me. Most of the same guys saying you should lose a fight for going backwards are the same guys who say Ali is their hero and the GOAT without ever watching his fights. Casual boxin' fans.

Styles make fights more than anything else in this sport....And Algieri was not a good style at all for Ruslan.

He will be back soon, but hopefully against a brawler like Molina or Matthyse.

I didn't see the whole fight last night but its an idiotic concept. You win more rounds, you win the fight.

I guess power punches mean nothing to a jab and run, I GUESS THATS BOXING to two of the judges that scored the fight . Nevermind the guy who put the pressure on and landed all the power shots that doesnt mean anything to a feathery jab.
