Exactly. I never understood all the bs about the "take the belt from the champion" nonsense. It shouldn't matter how it gets done, as long as it gets done. That's like saying for the Spurs to beat the Heat, they have to win each game by 20+ points for them to be the new champions; it's ridiculous to say the least.

if people score fights by pricing the jab more than a head knocker power punch than i guess algeri is a boxing god . In all honesty algeri won 5 rounds he wasnt even close cause of what happened in the 1st.

The problem as I see it is not that he was fighting off the backfoot but that he was still getting hit plenty and there were a lot of close rounds with only one guy (from two judges) getting the benefit of the doubt.

A lot of people got caught up in cheering for the underdog and most of all hating on the fighter representing the 'evil empire'.

I just watched the fight. Algeri did not run, he boxed nicely on the back foot.

I had Provodnikov winning 7-5, however a few of those rounds were tough to score.

how could he win 7-5 if the 1st round counted as 3 ?

Seven rounds to five, but the score would have been 115-111.

Regardless, Algeri is one tough son of a bitch, he fought 11 rounds with his eye nearly shut and took some wicked shots, especially that sweeping right hand to the body that Prov landed more or less at will.

Work on your defense and running won't be a problem.

Close fight don't care who got the nod. But I'll say this fighting on the Blackfoot and pot shotting will pose problems for a lot of fighters.
