I never do deadlifts with a straight bar **** is dangerous, I use a Hex/Trap Bar much safer and if you have lower back problems it helps reduce stress on that body part because your arms are at your side, its a more realistic functional workout because people used to carry heavy buckets of water on their sides so your positioning is more natural than with a straight bar deadlift.

Crossfit is injury inducer, but Cross Training is the best way to go.
Crossfit is basically pushing your body to do ridiculous amount of high reps with poor form, your form becomes poor because your body will fatigue you can't do high reps and have your body hold up it will crumble sooner and get tired this is where they get injured usually doing those overhead lifts and heavy squats.
These competitors who do crossfit games are all on PEDS, mainly steroids and hgh, no way can you train that often and that hard and recover fast enough, that is why a lot of people are getting sick with overtraining symptoms average joes think they will become the next crossfit games champion not realizing those guys were already athletes and are athletes and take peds for recovery. They don't do random drug testing and the women are more muscular than the men.Comment

People saying dead lifts are dangerous and lead to snap city, WHAT!? It's one of the easiest lifts to perfect the form on out of the major compound movements.
And I apologize in advance if you're just getting into lifting, and new to dead lifts.Comment

I don't deny at all that the hex bar is probably better, but I used to have lower back pains, and straight bar dead lifts saved my life with that. I'd even say the more weight I was putting on my lifts, the better and stronger my back got.I never do deadlifts with a straight bar **** is dangerous, I use a Hex/Trap Bar much safer and if you have lower back problems it helps reduce stress on that body part because your arms are at your side, its a more realistic functional workout because people used to carry heavy buckets of water on their sides so your positioning is more natural than with a straight bar deadlift.

If you're talking about debilitating back problems where you need surgery, then yeah, dead lifts are a no go.Comment

I completely agree with the bolded. I didn't mean "add" in the literal sense, I meant more of a meshing thing with new school things and old school. Rest is indeed the most import of any kind of training regimentComment
