  • In retrospect a 10 count wasn't needed; Groves was barely awake on his stool.

It was a good call, do we need another Mago situation to remind us? Groves was finished.

So..... the referee's decision was vindicated.

Do you mean to tell me that Groves being in no condition to continue was a result of the referee stopping the fight?

          • Let's change the rules of boxing since a ref doesn't have to count or pick up a count in some peoples eyes.

If a fighter goes down, he loses.

This is the new age of boxing. No more drama, no more 4 counts or 8 counts. Just stop the fight.

You are talking to a man ok? You are reading what I'm posting. "Do you mean to tell me", lmao. My position has been clear since I've been posting on this topic.

              • That reminded me of the Montiel vs Doniare fight. It should have been stopped after the first knock down. Amazingly Montiel got back up and was allowed to continue. There was lots of complaints about it not being stopped straight away. He took 2 heavy unnecessary shots, the same would have been with Groves and i don't think Froch would have been very compassionate..

The people who are saying it was stopped too son, would have been the same people complaining if he took unnecessary punishment had it been allowed to continue.

                • The ref took a look at Groves and saw that he wasn't in any state to continue..so he stopped the fight. That's why there's no complaints from him or his team.
The ref knew that a count wasn't going to spring life into him. And he was right, Groves couldn't make it to his tool without help.

He wasn't able to go on, and even if could've gotten up before 10..he would of been falttened and hurt due to the state he was in. The ref seen that, so did his job and saved the fighter.
                  Whats to discuss?

Change the rules of boxing? Since when has a ref been required to count someone out before stopping a fight?

                    • Groves was starched. He was still staggering in his corner a minute later
