  • Yup it's the power punches Floyd was eating all day. He was getting hammered like never before. Floyd was being beat up on the ropes. Those were heavy punches.

Power punches tells the story. Floyd got beat up.

Dang Floyd got beaten up by a slow footed predictable guy no disrespect to Chino, but an offensive fast boxer will kill Floyd.

    • I'm hearing that Maidana solved "The problem" and had the "remedy to crack the mayvinci code".

      It must have been good.

      • People always talk about the Blue Print for Mayweather, well...I saw it put in place tonight. Unfortunately, Chino did not have the power tools he needed to complete the "House of Pain" needed to beat Mayweather.

I tell you...I am amazed that it was Chino who actually put the Blueprint in place that I had been advocating for years. personally, i didn't think the guy would have the stamina to do it, but he did. And...I believe a lot of Chino's success was not only Garcia's, but Ariza'a, too.

Chino was a Machine for most of the fight. In fact, his stamina looked a lot better against Mayweather than it did against Broner - and I figured that would be the case for Ariza had been working with him longer. I was very impressed that Chino came storming back at the end even though Mayweather popped him real Good a few times. The guy has great heart and great trainers.

Pacquiao, Bradley, Provodnikov - they would all put on a better fight against Mayweather than Chino. So...Mayweather will not face them. Especially after tonight.

        Mark my words.

        • 116 - 112 with 8 rounds going to Floyd, 4 to El Chino. I can see argument for 7 - 5 as well but no more than that. Was a great fight. Chino threw too many looping high overhands that didn't land. He threw a LOT more shots but all of them were in close and to the body and arms mostly, not many too solid to the head. Floyd did the clearer damage and hit Maidana with more telling shots. The punch stats sum it all up. They threw almost the exact same amount of punches but Floyd landed 54% while Chino only landed 24%. That tells it all if you ask me. More than anything, I took from this fight that Floyd is deff starting to look old in there. He's a pocket fighter now and does not use his legs much at all anymore. That might not cut it against young lions like Thurman and Porter, they would be 2 handfuls for Floyd at this age and stage in his career. Depending on who his last 3 fights are, we just may see that 0 go. But he will likely choose smartly to avoid that from happening.

I'd actually bet that 75% of the Floyd fan boys on here didn't even watch the fight but are just repeating what they heard or read someone else say happened in the fight.

If Pacquiao fought Maidana, Floyd-worshipers would be saying that Pac was fighting another come forward tailor-made fighter lol.
I'm about to watch now although its very telling you didn't directly respond back to ANYTHING I said

But ok I'll watch and I'll post my thoughts later, if Im wrong on my pre-analysis I'll admit so

Just the sheer aggression in pushing Floyd to his uncomfortable zone should make it for Maidana.

The tempo of the whole fight was Maidana. He was the one putting the PAIN.

Stand tall Chino. You won big tonight.
All your posts just seem like you're trying too hard to convince yourself or other people. Maidana controled the tempo the WHOLE FIGHT? See when people say stuff like that I cant take the post serious.. and it just reeks of Floyd Hate. After the 6th Maidana was a completely different fighter, he was game but I only saw him winning the 8th and POSSIBLY the 12th. My opinion is that Floyd won, that alone debunks your "Maidana clearly won big tonight" stuff.

Marcos Maidana is without a doubt a top 5 boxer but he has definitely been disregarded whether right or wrong. Beating Broner in the manner that he did brought him into the spotlight and based on his performance tonight I had the fight either a draw or a 1 point decision for Mayweather. He easily could have won by a point and I think that without a doubt a rematch is warranted. The weird angled punches definitely gave Mayweather trouble and his defensive shots did very little to slow the head first campaign of Maidana.

All that being said what does this say about Canelo Alvarez? I'll be honest I give Maidana a better chance against Mayweather than I would against Alvarez, but what does that say about Alvarez? Alvarez is bigger, stronger, faster, and younger than Maidana yet he couldn't give Mayweather any trouble whatsoever. Was there any point in the Mayweather/Alvarez fight where Floyd seriously looked troubled? This leads me to believe that a lot of Mayweather's opponents want to leave with their pride in tact or don't want to risk an embarrassing KO, how else could you explain the Mayweather/Alvarez fight being such a snoozer?

All respect to Maidana and in reality I think he did enough to win tonight but had some of Floyd's other opponents adapted this "I don't give a f**k" attitude I think he would have had many more challenging and exciting fights. Maidana took a lot of Mayweather counters but none of them seemed to faze him and he continually pressed forward and hammered Mayweather against the ropes.

I guess what I'm trying to say is in my opinion Maidana has less tools than some of Floyd's previous opponents but he is truly a guy who didn't give a d*** and went in for the kill. He nearly won and this should be a lesson for all of Floyd's future opponents....

Good post. I had Floyd edging it out but loved Chino's approach. He brought it as best he could which can't be said about the likes of Canelo, Guerrero...

BTW got to see the in-ring post fight interview again but I believe Felix (translator) ***d it up again... sounded like Maidana said that Floyd hadn't fought a man before (talking about himself) not, as Felix translated, that Floyd didn't fight like a man
