some posters here are getting the facts wrong. As i understand it, stevenson was always going to fight fonfara. On hbo it would have been a showcase fight along with kovalev fighting agnew.

Stevenson then switched to showtime as they offered a better purse for the fonfara fight.

So what stevenson chose was a higher purse for fonfara and a chance for a hopkins fight. What he left behind was fonfara on hbo and an agreed upon fight against kovalev.

actually kovalev and me were looking for the stevenson fight straight after sillakh, it was gym and stevenson who wanted to wait. Curiously negotiations were already underway for kovalev - fonfara (who's about the highest rated us based lhw who was available) when gym cut in with a better deal for stevenson - fonfara, leaving kovalev scrambling for an opponent - in the end this turned out to be agnew, who ultimately doubled his price late in negotiations leaving kovalev to have to take a cut to his own purse just to get the fight made.

Stevenson was due to make 2.5 million for the KOvalev fight +a small gate %.

KOvalev was due 1.5 million.

Stevenson will now make between 1.5-1.6 for a B-hop fight.

IMO it's about more then just money..B-Hop is clearly the top of the div,and on Stevenson's resume will be the better name..Kov is very unproven,and I still say will be trouble by Pascal..

How is Hopkins clearly top of the division?

His last 3 fights be lost to Dawson and beat two bums in Cloud and Murat.

This is incorrect. Check the article

It wasn't Showtime offering Adonis more money. It was Haymon requesting 40% more than what HBO agreed upon for a Kovalev-Stevenson fight, yet he still wouldn't guarantee he would accept a Stevenson-Kovalev fight even if HBO agreed to the %40 increase in pay. Stevenson allowed this despite his own manager telling him the money from Kovalev was as good as it was going to get.

In result, HBO wouldn't do business because Haymon only wanted to negotiate a Fonfara-Stevenson fight.

This is why Stevenson left and why HBO wouldn't go up in their offer. NOT because Showtime out bid them lol

In other words, Stevenson/Haymon were going to Showtime if HBO matched the offer or not.

Put it this way, Kovalev is unproven to me but obviously has power. Stevenson has skills and power in his left.

I think style wise, Stevenson gets KTFO if tagged. Why? His hands are always low...

However I find that fight much more exciting than Hopkins VS Anyone TBH LOL.

Dawson beat Hopkins handily.

2. it's already been established that BHOP is not only a legit DRAW but he's a PPV DRAW with a good dance parter,which adonis very much is

I'm a fan of and have the utmost respect for Bhops but lets not kid ourselves. He's NEVER been a ppv draw. Not on his own at least.

Simple fact is Adonis probably ain't gonna get much more - HBO coulda matched the Fonfara fight if they thought Stevenson vs Kovalev was gonna happen, but if it isn;t (as Stevnsons refusal to sign seems to indicate) why the hell would they want to sink even more money into the guy than they already have?

As for Adonis vs BHops we have no figures but if we look at some of 'Nards better known recent (and I use the term loosely) opponents - Sad Chad got something like 800K, titlist Cloud about 650K. I'm not sure about the Pascal purse which might be a useful guide for a Canadian fight, but I'm guessing not over a $mil.

Against Kovalev, Stevenson would be the A side and would get the bigger cut of what would likely be a slightly smaller purse - against BHop he'll be the B side ('Nard should have 2 belts by then as well as the Legend) and take the smaller cut of what'll probably be the bigger purse.

Obviously this is pure guesswork, but over the two fights I'd imagine Stevensons gonna make a similar amount with Fonfara then BHop as he would with Fonfara then Kovalev.

This is the sticking point right here. If Stevenson was refusing to agree to a Kovalev fight in the event both are successful in their next fights, why would or should HBO give him even more money for a showcase fight? Better question is, why is stevenson so reluctant to agree to a Kovalev fight?
