From a fan standpoint, the pressure is on Stevenson to take less money to stay with HBO so the Kovalev fight can be made. If he chooses a few hundred thousand dollars to go to Showtime and kill that fight, he is ducking Kovalev. Clearly. However, how bound to HBO is Kovalev? This may be a Showtime plan to get the Stevenson-Kovalev fight in 2015. Stranger things have happened.

THey'd only match it if there was a guaranteed fight with Kovalev.
From there, they have to hammer out his Pay. Whether they're pinching or he's asking to much could affect it

yeah it has to be a 2 fight guarantee in order for hbo to match it. kovalev-agnew and stevenson-fonfara...then kovalev-stevenson if they both win. without that scenario, hbo will not be interested. the question is...is stevenson willing to negotiate for a guarantee like that?

I'm always about Whats best for the sport, unifying the belts and the fans want Kovalev vs Stevenson Adonis. Ideally, the winner would fight Hopkins vs Shumonev. This is the perfect scenario. It's like a four man tournament between the four belt holders.

If Stevenson leaves to Showtime, Kovalev is left out. Especially if Hopkins wins, he could very well retire. This ****s up everything.

Kovalev vs Adonis should be happening right now while its hot. How many times do we have to go through this where we end up saying "oh man I wish so and so would have fought back then" Pac vs May, Gamboa vs JuanMa etc etc etc

did stevenson threaten to leave hbo and demand more money when fighting cloud or bellew? no those purses were fine and dandy and they weren't close to what he would make to fight kovalev. oh you want me to fight someone good? how dare you i'm outta here! i can make more money on another network! if thats true why didn't you leave before?.............does anyone seriously believe stevenson would fight kovalev if they were both on showtime? stevenson would say the same sh-it. i need more money! the dumbass fans would say pay the man if you want him to fight! then he would fight a bum like fonfarra for less and the fans would ignore that.

This is such bull sh!!. Didn't Adonis have a 3 fight deal with hbo?? So now chances are we don't get kovalev vs Adonis. Damn haymon has power in the sport. Showtime is prolly giving a boatload for the Adonis fight in May and hbo don't want to match it unless they get a guarantee on the kovalev fight. Which there not getting. Be nice if Richard and Haymon repaired there relationship with hbo. Either way you look at it taking away big fighters from the number 1premium network isn't a good thing for the sport. I could eventually see hbo pulling away from the sport seeing as they don't need boxing. Sucks because the way hbo presents a fight is truly great.

Who knows maybe?last I heard kovalev had and exclusive deal with hbo.
