I mean, do they really need to overpay for Adonis-Fonfara? Then Adonis-Hopkins? On top of huge guarantees to Mayweather? As well as all those whack-ass TMT fighters like J'Leon and Ishe getting TV dates?

I really wish someone higher up at Showtime got involved in this ****. It's a bunch of dudes - Haymon, Mayweather, and most likely Espinosa himself - getting ****** rich while leading the channel up dangerous, unsustainable path.

Only a few years ago that Showtime were doing fights like Vasquez-Marquez and the Super Six. Now look at this ****.

Showtime has become HBO, circa 2004-2010, and HBO has become, well, aside from their PPV cards, they have become Showtime pre-2000, minus Tyson. Yikes.

They set a precedent by overpaying for Cotto/D Rod and Ward/E Rod. They've put on a ton of mismatches over the past few months. But it doesn't matter because they are still doing 1.1 million in viewer ratings on average.

I don't think they care about retaining the elite level talent anymore. They can showcase guys like Glen Tapia for extremely cheap purses and good ratings.

They just care about retaining the names. Can't let go of Cotto because he's always good for PPV.

I thought Cotto would've done more on regular Showtime though

I'm always about Whats best for the sport, unifying the belts and the fans want Kovalev vs Stevenson Adonis. Ideally, the winner would fight Hopkins vs Shumonev. This is the perfect scenario. It's like a four man tournament between the four belt holders.

If Stevenson leaves to Showtime, Kovalev is left out. Especially if Hopkins wins, he could very well retire. This ****s up everything.

Kovalev vs Adonis should be happening right now while its hot. How many times do we have to go through this where we end up saying "oh man I wish so and so would have fought back then" Pac vs May, Gamboa vs JuanMa etc etc etc

Objectively speaking, what's the bigger fight? Stevenson vs Kovalev, or Stevenson vs Hopkins? I'm also all for what's the best for the sport and I would much prefer Stevenson vs kovalev, but what's best for the sport and what I want don't always match. I would leave it to market forces to find out what's best for the sport, and lets be honest with ourselves, the market says Hopkins vs Stevenson is the bigger fight.

Stevenson already skipped/ducked the opportunity to fight Kovalev, and it is what it is. Moving forward, I can see the point of view of Stevenson wanting Hopkins next, as convenient and cowardly as it is. Hopkins is way more likely to fight Kovalev than Stevenson is at this point. So **** it. Let have Hopkins take care of Stevenson for us.

The one thing we can hope for is that HBO sometimes doesn't obey the laws of supply and demand, so it's possible for HBO to put up some ridiculous amount of money for Stevenson-Kovalev

floyd fans aka the ducking defenders of justice never seem to look at all the evidence. stevenson wasn't bit-ching about purses when fighting dawson, cloud, or bellew. now that people want him to fight kovalev he just can't fight unless you give him a sh-it ton of money? this is called hypocrisy. i think i figured out floyd fans think hypocrisy is a good thing. contradicting yourself and making it look like you are a ducking fool is so hot right now!

floyd fans are like climate change deniers. they ignore the millions of pieces of data that prove climate change is real and find 1 piece of data that says otherwise and then they say "see, look at this. i am right."

I see what you're saying from a business stand point. But as a fan are you not Let down alittle. Stevenson and kovalev are tops at 175 and would be such a bad a$$ fight. Do you watch the sport from a buisness stand point or as a fan or would you rather watch hopkins vs Adonis stringer?

I would love to see Kovalev vs Stevenson, but I'm not going to act like a kid who doesn't understand rhyme and reason if I don't get my way. What is me *****ing about it on an internet forum going to do about this fight not getting made? I don't mean to disrespect you, as a fight fan everyone wants the best fights. But when you get to throwing around the ducker claims, calling professional fighters cowards and all this other bull**** it just turns into a celebrity gossip forum. Why can't these grown men understand what the situation is and approach it accordingly? Adonis wants money, HBO wants the fight. Showtime has given him an offer, HBO needs to present one that shows him a solid figure for his upcoming bout and a healthy number for Sergey. Simple. All this Al Haymon slander and Stevenson slander for what?
