The statement was that White fighters are over-hyped. They get hype and media coverage (and thus, money) disproportionate to their accomplishments or abilities in the sport.

I'm not sure I agree with that. IMO - since the end of the cold war - there are more white fighters out there, hence the coverage. I can think of several non-whites that were overhyped too. Frez Oquendo, Michael Grant, and Dominique Guinn, and Yanqui Diaz to name a few.

Fres, Grant, Guinn and Diaz were over-hyped?? I think each got a couple of shots on HBO while they were winning. As soon as their true selves were revealed - whoosh!!

BUT the media NEVER latched on to any of those guys. None of 'em ever fought for any big money (maybe Grant got a decent check vs Lennox??).
