The statement was that White fighters are over-hyped. They get hype and media coverage (and thus, money) disproportionate to their accomplishments or abilities in the sport.

On the contrary, black athletes in boxing are suffering from a lack of audience. Name me a black boxer right now that has the same following as Gatti. I can't think of anyone. Tyson, as far as an attraction, is a crossover hit and is incomparable to Gatti as far as the type of freakish monsterous train wreck of a slugger he was.
Tyson was like a Jordan, a once in a blue moon event. He would sell to the Anti Boxing Association if there was one. not to mention he was a Media circus.

Gatti is not even on the level of a fighter like a Morales. Yet Morales does not get the White support Gatti gets and vice versa. I think Gatti is hyped and overrated more than any non-white boxer there is. I for one like seeing Gatti fight but not as much as some of these other fighters.
