I understand it is a money thing though and that is exactly why there is a market for Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters due to their countries proximity and population in/to the U.S. With Pacquiao's emergence I guess they are realizing how lucrative the Filipino market can be especially in the west coast. In otherwords, my point is, there is ALOT money to be made in the next great Italian, Irish, etc. due to the population of these nationalities.

I think Duplicty has no basis for his arguement. The only white fighters ever being hyped up are "white heavyweights". Malignaggi, Salita, Duddy, Yuri Foreman, Valuev, Romanov and other undefeated white prospects barely get a second of TV time. You get an undefeated fighter from PR and HBO is plugging him as the next Trinidad. Hatton had to beat a guy like Tszyu in order to even get a shred of respect in the states. Most were picking Tszyu by KO.

And before you throw race logic into the arguement, I'm not white and the race card plays in many directions.

Such as Morales being schooled by Raheem, and Morales lands a pay per view date while Raheem waits months only to grab a date against Freitas. Or Baldomir schooling Judah, has no set fight, but Judah lands a 7 figure ppv date with Mayweather.

A guy like Malignaggi gets some play in a forum and this guy loses his mind. He has charisma and people like him, of all colors. Never has HBO even whispered his name on TV so what hype does he get?

The way the heavyweight division is mapped out these days, the boxing world is not looking for a "white" hope, they are looking for a "black" hope. The next Tyson, the next Lewis, the next Holyfield. Guys like Klitschko and Valuev will always sell due to their size, same way HBO tried pushing McCline and Goofi Whitaker - because they were big.

Yeah, they stopped with McCline and Whitaker after looking ****ty. But Wlad hasn't looked well either and he's still on TV.

Mosley loses to two good fighters (Forrest and Winky) and he's off TV.

But yeah, it's clear HBO is looking for the next Tito. There is no doubt about that.

I just think in general, PPV/cable execs are looking to market a fighter to a certain demographic.

Very good argument. I think this guy nailed it. I can't help but agree.

Mosley has been on two pay per views in his last two fights. Wlad at one point had to fight on Showtime because HBO refused to televise the fight with Williamson. Wlad has not had a pay per view date yet. Mosley is fighting on a HBO pay per view next week. His third pay per view in a row. How is Wlad getting more play?

Clearly race plays no conscious part in the whole hype thing.

You dont have a group of journalists sitting in a room and saying "right, whos the up and coming white boxers in this world, because we dont want to talk about any black ones"...

Other factors come into the equation, such as potential. Junior Witter -- less potential than Ricky Hatton. Junior Witter -- less hyped than Ricky Hatton.

Its as simple as that. Race has nothing to do with this, and I cant think of a time when race has even affected boxing in the past 20 years at least. Perhaps in Muhammad Ali's day when we had Black Civil Rights and Malcolm X and all that, but in today's boxing world, credit is given where credit is required, and potential is spotted where potential is seen.

This rule has already been tested by BPP anyway, and we all know that there ARE, in fact, black boxers who have been hyped, but for the convenience of Duplicity (boxingscene's worst new addition), those black boxers are forgotten.

Mosley was on PPV twice the last two times because of ODLH and Golden Boy Promotions. Next week he's on PPV because of Vargas.

                Latino fans are powerful.

Mosley said about two years ago HBO gave him problems as they wanted to choose who he could fight but if he wanted to fight Marquez (not sure entirely sure who) they could get a date easily.

Let's not forget, Mosley was dropped to ESPN PPV on the undercard of Cintron-Margarito.

Good argument, but I think Duplicity was thinking more down the lines of hyping before a boxer is even known, so Wlad and Mosley dont count really. Like for instance we are hearing about up and coming white stars apparently, but not the black ones...

That is where Amir Khan and David Haye (striaght out of the UK) come in.... those 2 are being hyped big time, and Amir Khan is middle eastern, and David Haye is black. Clearly no base for this argument, just a dumb **** trying to make an assertion.

Also, that's an honor that Wlad can look terrible the last 6 years and he can still appear on HBO and Showtime. That's pretty good if you ask me.

When Mayweather fought Gatti and Mayweather won, he was crying and saying "Gatti is great". Why? because Gatti put Mayweather in the spotlight. Lacy is an exciting warrior that is not getting Gatti type attention as well.
