Which is exactly right. But when White guys run most newspapers and internet sites and comprise 70% of the population...

By the way: who is a better fighter, Casamayor or Gatti?

Vargas was entertaining to watch against Tito and Oscar. Guys at the top of the game. THAT is a warrior.

Marquez got up three times in a round against Pacquiao. Fought with a badly broken nose and gulping blood the whole night.

Morales fought with his nose crushed and his legs gone. Never quit. Against one of the best punchers in the sport.

Corrales got up six times against Floyd and twice against Castillo. P4P guys. THAT is a warrior.

Gatti quit on his stool and his fights with top guys produced ELEVEN ONE-SIDED ROUNDS. Some "warrior". I'm sure there's a Czechoslovakian middleweight somewhere with a belt and a good record who has never fought outside of Prague. Surprised Gatti hasn't found that guy yet.
i agree they are all warriors and i think gatti is, take his fight with ward 'average' fighters you might class them as, still good fights tho, are they only warriors then if they fight the top men, ive seen some cracking small hall fights from lads who will never be world champ

Gatti's fan base is composed of mostly white people although I am a non-white Gatti fan myself. I for one believe white fighters are more hyped because there is more money in a white fighter. If fans just watched boxing based on just excitement, then fighters like Arce, Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao would have the same amount of white followers as Gatti has. This is not the case though. All though each of those fighters have a number of fans outside their nationality or race, most of the PPV and arena sales are generated by fans within. Gatti is overhyped. To call Gatti, in the words of Lampley, "The only true warrior in boxing", when there are many other non-white boxers that have prooved themselves, and even more by winning againts the elite, I would say those words are overhyping. To the untrained ear these words may just fool someone into paying 50 bucks.

Gatti didn't quit on his stool. You said that before and were corrected. That was perhaps a mistake. You said it again and its a damn lie this time. He didn't quit. Also, the rest of my favorite fighters? James Toney, Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga. Not a white guy there. Your post was foolish as are most of yours

I have never heard that phrase used in any conversation I have had about boxing....

And this is like making an issue out of nothing. There is no race issue in the sport. White people queue up to watch black people and vice versa. White people fight black people in this sport. White people are as publicised as black people. I really wont give any sympathy to this.

overall is it not true thet everyone gets hyped over anything thats worth it. i dont know about over-hyped though, this is just one aspect that some one has pulled out of the air about white boxers(just as the title says). is it not true that black boxers have and do this from time to time.
i think the title of this thread is illegitimate to just white people not just boxers.

P.S nothing here aimed to be racist although i cant controll how you feel about my words!

On the contrary, black athletes in boxing are suffering from a lack of audience. Name me a black boxer right now that has the same following as Gatti. I can't think of anyone. When Mayweather fought Gatti and Mayweather won, he was crying and saying "Gatti is great". Why? because Gatti put Mayweather in the spotlight. Lacy is an exciting warrior that is not getting Gatti type attention as well.

Gatti quit on his stool. Did the ref stop the fight? Did the ring doctor intervene? No and No.

No, Gatti and McGirt saw the prospect of a few more rounds of Floyd pummeling him, and they quit.

I don't know what "correction" you are talking about. Team Gatti threw in the towel. McGirt said "I'm gonna stop it. Your eye is closing." Did gatti say "NO NO NO"?

Corrales went ballistic when his dad came up on the aprn and waved the towel. Frazier didn't speak to Futch for a long time.

                      GATTI QUIT. DEAL WITH IT.
