Before the Floyd/Canelo fight I told people that Canelo might miss weight and a girl asked me "under or over weight?"

I have to come to this site to discuss 90 percent of the boxing that takes place today. My acquaintances don't know these fighters and if you try and have a discussion or God forbid a debate....I feel like a sage talking to a child. Sometimes the "Big fights" come up and everyone starts talking about Floyd, Pac,Cotto.....uhhh I guess that's pretty much it...and again , they pretty much don't know what the hell their talking about. It's a lonely boxing fans world out there.
Does anyone else feel like this?
Are they're some lucky guys out there whose friends know all about the boxing world.?....it's just a shame to me that these warriors who stand alone and not on a team , don't get more play..smh
Nah, I love the NFL and baseball too. I still talk boxing with dudes I sparred in my early teenage years and many dudes that I work with still love the sweet science. It is still cultural in the inner cities. My family is Irish and Italian, its in our blood. I have been to Mexico on vacation many times and am jealous of how boxing is like a religion there. Maybe that is why I love it there so much.

My dad is really the only one who knows it well enough to discuss it with me, but even then, he has no idea who Roman Gonzalez is for example. That's why I come on NSB

Count me among the lonely boxing nerds. Got one semi-hardcore fan friend (whom I successfully converted) and a small handful of friends who are extreme casuals. They pretty much only follow Floyd -- not because they're fans but just because they wanna see him lose.

Most roll their eyes at me when I try to inject some boxing talk into the convo, lol.

Look, I get the whole to each their own thing, but some dumb motherf**kers just piss me the f**k off. I got one friend (not even really a friend nowadays, just an acquaintance) who came over one time when we were watching a fight and all he did was complain the whole time.

              "God this is boring."

              "This fight sucks."

"What a lame fight, why is this even on TV."

Then one time he called and I was watching an Andre Ward fight, and he was like, "who? he must really suck because anybody who fights on anything other than PPV must be garbage". I swear I wanna knock this dude out these days because of that. I gotta step back and not take this boxing ish so seriously

Yep, almost everyone I know watches basketball, football and baseball. Don't think I even know anyone who watches boxing. Which is y I signed up here.

I have one friend that I got into boxing but for the most part I keep him updated with all the news... He's a huge UFC fan so talking the fight game with him was always interesting cuz we would talk about the similarities boxing and mma have but how they were completely different and he always understood what I was saying when I would explain fights to him... He also got me into the UFC a lil and he keeps me updated with all that news, I never really gave it a chance before but now il go out of my way to watch any Jon Jones or Anderson silva fights...

But other than that the only place I would be able to talk boxing was at the boxing gym or when I go to fights... I remember the first big fight I went to, I was so surprised with all the conversations that were going on around me cuz everybody was talking boxing and almost everybody knew wtf they were talking about, I felt like I was in heaven... Even my girl got into the fights that night and she hates when I just sit in front of the tv for hours watching boxing
