Comments Thread For: Roach: Khan Can't Beat Mayweather, PPV Will Lose Money

Mayweather will sell reasonably well regardless of who he fights but I can't see this PPV doing huge numbers in the US, I don't think many people will be willing to pay $60-70 to see him and Khan fight.

It's general knowledge that SHO is spending gargantuan amounts of money on Mayweather fights. They lost money on the Guerrero fight and barely recovered in the Canelo fight. Anyone can do the math starting from Money Mayweather's $40 million guarantee, expensive undercards, expensive tour, expensive promotion, live weigh in, you name it. This is not rocket science.
Mayweather is supposed to enrich SHO with truckloads of money. That has not been the case. I'm a subscriber and I barely see Bernstein, Kenny, et al. Regular boxing is so infrequent. Subscribers didn't benefit at all from this Mayweather connection. He just messed things up. Showtime and GBP are focused on PPVs, which have nothing to do with Showtime. PPVs can be carried by any network. Can't wait to see this guy retire.

What the hell are you talking about? Showtime has been doing amazing numbers and ratings. They're overall viewership has gone up, and in some cases has outcompeted HBO, who has a much larger viewership.
Showtime is happy, and many subscribers are happy.
