I want Rigo to leave Arum but I'm not going to get my hopes up thinking that GBP would market him any better. They treat Lara like garbage at 154lbs so why would they want to risk any of their 122-126 lbs fighters against Rigo?
There are plenty of other fighters in boxing that are tacticians who hit and don't get hit. I don't see their promoters ****ting on them. So with Rigo it's something more than that. As much as I hate to bring race and nationality into this I think that's what it is. Rigo is a black Cuban, he doesn't speak English and he's just too damn good for his own good.
I guess in a promoter's eyes that means there is no way they'd want to risk any of their top fighters against such a threat to their investment. I swear I think boxing is the only sport where greatness gets punished.
No it's not. Has nothing to do with race, at all. After all Trinidad was a black Puerto Rican who spoke no English and there was no problem in promoting him.
It's strickly stylistic. Both Lara, and Rigondeaux, have extremely boring styles, they don't put butts in seats, and a side from a handful of hardcore fans here there really isn't a demand for him.Comment

I really don’t understand Arum as Rigo’s promoter. Arum should be defending Rigo and push him as the next PPV star but instead he’s pulling him down the gutter.
As a promoter, Arum job is to sell Rigo’s style (boring or not) and do whatever necessary to hype him up.Comment

Rigo should go and win the Rio Olympics. Showtime's not gonna give him more air time than HBO just because they feel sorry for him. They already know the effects he'd have on their viewership numbers. It's the fight business.. If Rigo doesn't start fighting, he'll continue to be the only elite-level boxer that I can say I've got more money than..Comment

Trinidad didn't come from a Communist country and was able to come and go from P.R. to the U.S. at will. When he'd return to P.R. he would be given parades and was well loved by his people. No it's not. Has nothing to do with race, at all. Rigo can never go back to Cuba. If he did he wouldn't be getting any parades that's for sure. What I'm getting at is that these promoters don't want to market a fighter who comes from a Latino Communist country. I guess they see less $$$ in it.
And I agree about the style part. Tito was a guy to layed fighters the **** out. But I'm in the minority who loves Rigo and Lara's style. Either way I wish both guys would get better fights.Comment
