First off all man don't shadow box after eating second you should probably get to a gym and learn some more of the basics.Your room obviously is a bad place to shadow box you have no room in there to move around when shadow boxing you can't expect your opponent to be Joshua Clottey who is doing nothing back to you. You've gotta be slipping, countering and feinting all the things you would be doing in a real fight.Anyway get to a gym man you'll only develop bad habits at home unsupervised.Good luck with it anyway
me shadow boxing :)

You showed you have balls and guts by posting this so you are cut from a good cloth. Most people wouldn't dare to post videos of themselves due to insecurity or other inhibitions.
Aside from the obvious lack of speed due to the calmer rhythm of the work out, I'd recommend visualizing a target so you can better simulate a real fight situation. This will allow you to practice head movement as well.
Keep doing your thing man and block out the negative, let in the positive. You'll get a few harsh/trollish comments which happens when a platform like the internet gives the anonymous a voice. Practice makes perfect like they say or at least it makes you steadily improve. I am in the same position as you in terms of fighting shape, I'm at 178 right now (I'm 5'8) but the good thing is we still look good lol. As far as fighting shape, we'll need to tighten our upper body a bit (we have a similar build). Anyway, have fun brutha!
Let me throw in with this poster....You already showed a remarkable quality. You are, as said above, willing to put yourself out there for citiscism for the sake of knowledge. It doesn't matter how you look now, if you have the right attitude someone will teach you whatever it is you want to learn.
I am a martial artist so when you hear my comments keep them in proper perspective.
You need a lot of work bro and heres the best thing about that: you probably don't have any horrendous habits yet... Yu look young also, meaning you probably have not developed any really bad movement dynamics. You are a good clean slate. It takes many times more effort to go back and correct a bad habit than it does to learn correctly. Take it from one who has been put through that ringer!
Scratch what you did in the video and ask why you are shadow boxing. What is it to develop? One guy said to focus....Well if your goal is to focus on an opponent you need to work with a partner in some capacity. One guy mentioned the legs. Well....in order to develop any power from the hips, legs or spine you have to have relaxed shoulders. Your hands have to be relaxed and closed at the right time, the arms extended properly as the body turns where it should be. IF you step with a punch (I know boxers typically do not) then the foot has to hit the ground as the arm and fist touch the target. This is the most basic timing that will teach body weight transfer. From there the movements can be shortened, abreviated, hidden, etc.
If you want to just practice and not over analyze while you look for a situation then my comment would be to relax more into the punches. I dont want to develop a habit that might inhibit but two things we do when we throw punches is to keep the hands relaxed until impact and to keep oour elbows really tight to the body and not sticking out like wings as we set up to punch....that may be different in boxing!
Good luck great first step.Comment

I can well remember being your guys age and and gaining or losing multiple pounds in a day....haha. Not at fifty! when you gain 5 pounds they are with you a while!Haha I knew it, you look about as tall as me (give or take an inch I was guessing). I'm probably at 183 now as well after eating through the day. I go by my morning weight, some days I wake up at 180 or so. It fluctuates, goes up and down... not really active at the moment! I am trying to watch what I eat, let in more good stuff than bad.
You're a cool guy dude. I like your vibe.
Yeah feel free to do so man.Comment
