Since you haven't started going to the gym yet, you can be forgiven. If you get a good coach he will tell you exactly what to and what not to do.
Some suggestions from me will be to mainly focus on your form and footwork. Instead of throwing may punches, stick to the basics and properly throw them with good form. Your combinations should not be anything elaborate because you will find you actually wont be able to use them once you start sparring. So throw basic combos like the jab followed by the right, or jab, straight, hook. and the last thing I would suggest is to punch higher instead of punching straight.
Good luck, you will have fun in the gym.Comment

And people, please don't praise him too much for posting a video to the internet for people who he will never meet in person..
When the real brave thing to do is go to a boxing gym, and KEEP GOING. I remember these three guys came in to learn, wearing jordans, then they began complaining about creases in their shoes to each other while we were jumping rope.. they came one day and never showed up again.Comment

A for effort Some pointers...
#1 ALWAYS AND I REPEAT ALWAYS keep your hands up. You are not pro bro. DO NOT DROP YOUR HANDS! EVER. Your hands in the video are dangerously low. From now on your position is to always have your arms up. Palms facing inside the temples. Maybe a little lower, but for a beginner not lower than the TOP of the cheek bone. Elbows ALWAYS tucked at the side. If this is the only thing you listen to make it be this. You WILL get DRILLED dropping your hands and bending at the waist like you're a pro without learning the stuff that leads up to that. And that's REAL.
#2 This will actually require you going to a gym because someone has to critique your form as you are not whipping the punches out from your shoulder properly, nor are you pivoting into the punches like you should. When you throw punches(Not talking feints and other mental gamey type stuff) the aim should be to snap your punches back to their original position(^See #1 for the correct arm and elbow positioning) as quick as possible. Snap the jab, and it goes right back to being on defense when you whip it back instantaneously. This gives your opponent smaller windows to counter your punches. I can go into brutal detail on how to throw the punches, but I won't. Someone that is qualified to teach the art has to be there showing you rather than me trying to explain it over the internet.
#3 When you shadow box the goal is to actually picture yourself fighting an opponent( So ideally you'll want a tad bit more space than your room to move around in). Don't sit there throwing aimless punches or 100 punch combinations(Someone that knew what they were doing would just calmly backstep or sidestep away from it). Use your footwork. Really focus on imagining someone throwing punches back at you and how you would deal with the oncoming punch.
That's all I can type for right now, but you got balls man. Go to a gym and then you'll be official
