if only cotto was the best fighter

...well, using NSB history and logic, I'd say there is an argument to make that Cotto could have been the greatest fighter today
I'll make it make sense, just you wait....A lot of fans, most of whom were fl0mos I guess, but nonetheless, a lot of fans said Cotto was shot to **** post-margarito - Clottey and Pac did some more damage and he still went 12 very solid rounds with the best fighter today, Floyd Mayweather. For a "dead man walking" he's done pretty ****ing well I'd say, imagine if he wasn't "shot to ****" starting from 2008.
In any case, Cotto's dope. Fan-friendly fighter all around. Margarito, Pacquiao and perhaps Mayweather are his most notable losses, but fighting those guys WHEN he did is something he doesn't get enough credit for. If Cotto chose to pick and choose and calculate he may have still been undefeated.Last edited by SCEN3RY; 01-07-2014, 05:39 PM.Comment

Resume = everyone you have fought. But the greatness of that resume is not only dependent on who you have fought but who you have beaten.
On paper, Cotto has a terrific resume, in reality, he has lost to the best names of his generation.Comment

Did you just say Cotto ISN'T the best fighter?

He is and he has balls of steel. A 1st ballot HOF and it's been an honor to watch him fight. It still isn't over yet either.
I try to show posters the light of KING Cotto, but they are bit reluctant to accept his greatness. It's understandable, it can be intimidating. One day though, everyone will see what I see.Comment

Yeah seems some people are confused about the word resume...Cotto has a good resume, his results from it aren't as great however. He has a very strong list of opponents though, more so than many other fighters recently anyway. As he says himself sometimes "I want the big names" or whatever he says, who else talks that way and really means it? The guy would fight anyone.Comment

To be real i am not 100 percent sure he is a 1st ballot hall of famer...if he beats Martinez then sure...but his wins right now are not that of a 1st ballot hall of famer...sure he is a 3 division champion but 2 of those titles were vacant tiles and the 3rd division was from yuri formanDid you just say Cotto ISN'T the best fighter?

Mosley, Quintana, Malignaggi, Judah, Urkal, Gomez, Clottey, Foreman, and Margarito aren't enough? He's a 4 time, 3 division champion in an era where granted they don't mean as much as they used to, but that goes for fighters with titles to a degree. To be real i am not 100 percent sure he is a 1st ballot hall of famer...if he beats Martinez then sure...but his wins right now are not that of a 1st ballot hall of famer...sure he is a 3 division champion but 2 of those titles were vacant tiles and the 3rd division was from yuri forman
He doesn't need the lineal MW title to be a first ballot HOF. That's more than secure. I'd bet my account he goes in on his first ballot.Comment

Cotto has the balls to fight anybody but he has fallen short in the big stage . That being said this is an obvious troll thread since you stating that cotto is the best and that Pacquiao (who beat his ass like he was his daddy) and Floyd dont fight the best yet both guys fought Cotto and beat him who according to you is the best your thesis falls apart right there.Comment

he hasn't fought everyone, but he's fought a who's who in boxing. that's certainly more than you can say for a couple of certain other fighters.Comment
