What would boxing's landscape even look like if Cotto carried the sport today? If only he passed on Tony and fought P-Will instead, and won. Maybe Shane still would've wrecked Margs. It's been interesting to watch his style transform over the years. I'll always have him to thank for introducing me to boxing.

            cotto is that fighter

Cotto is that fighter who ducked Paul Williams and fought Margarito instead who Paul Willaims beat,Ducked Sergio Martinez when he was at his prime, and fought the weakest belt holder at 154 called Yuri Foreman.Never made any attempts at unifying his 140 pound WBO belt with Floyd WBC belt when Floyd wanted to unify.Sorry but we have plenty of Cotto`s in the fight game, one of them is called Manny Pacquiao.

Hard to say.. you'd have to be extremely blessed to make it through such a rigorous pace. That's a marathon of pure suck. Cotto deserves to walk away from the sport right now, he's given his fans everything he has.. he's just too damned stubborn to lay over and let past transgressions define his legacy. Glad he got his vindication against Margarito and I'm thrilled he's seeking out Martinez's lineal belt despite his shortcomings.
It's going to be grand reading about him in the history books years from now, how he raised hell against all the greats in his era and carried himself on an equal pedestal despite never winning "The Big One". Maybe Martinez is the ticket .

As he says himself sometimes "I want the big names" or whatever he says, who else talks that way and really means it? The guy would fight anyone.
Yep, Cotto does, more often than not fight the best. It's just a shame he ran into Magy and Pac at 147 and was never big enough to be THE MAN at 154, even though a post prime Cotto in his least effective weight gave Mayweather even more trouble than Hatton and almost as much as DLH.

He doesn't need the lineal MW title to be a first ballot HOF. That's more than secure. I'd bet my account he goes in on his first ballot.
Agree totally, ma ***** Cotto is a 1st ballot HOFer, seriously, anyone can make it into the HOF when you have Gatti in there and a fictional fighter such as Rocky lol
