The fights are paid. There are no headgear. There are three judges and a referee. From 154 [pounds] and up, they wear 10-ounce gloves. From 154 and down, it's eight-ounce gloves. How is that not a professional fight? Without question, it is a pro fight.
It doesn't get more clear than that does it? Just like Barthelemy breaking the rules.

If you get pay for fighting you are a pro, there's no question about that and basically that is what make the difference, you can take the headgear, implement 4/3 minutes round and don't get pay you still amateur, now you take a dollar and that make you a professional... They did get pay in the wsb

You have a point there. I mean, when it came to Barthelemy, the rules were real clear. But now he "doesn't know what a pro bout is." Lol

WSB gloves are very different from pro gloves. you can hardly make a fist. WSB gloves are 10 oz up to light WW, and 12 oz from WW and beyond.

a welterweight in the WSB will have 50% more weight in his glove than he would in a pro fight with an 8 oz glove.

they also use different rules for how the hand can be wrapped.

these are the official rules of the WSB.
