Of course he's a PPV draw. Regardless of why people are buying it he is still a PPV draw and the biggest draw in the sport of boxing.

If Floyd was a big PPV draw he would be fighting on 4th of July weekend instead of Mexican independence day and Cinco de Mayo.

I think the whole point is they didn't have to which makes it even more impressive; their name was enough to get you there, not a demographic marketing scheme.

Floyd has been involved the #1 and #2 ppv sells all time. Plus he consistently sells around a million ppv and when it doesn't reach the million mark it is a disappointment when other fighters can't even sell 500k.

Floyd is a draw because he has been in other TV shows and commercial to broaden his appeal so he has a lot of casual fans. Also being labeled as the best fighter in the planet helps.

I don't believe that a huge percent buy his fights to watch him lose. The TS is wrong in saying that Floyd is not a draw

It doesn't matter whether they boo you or cheer you, what matters is that they are not silent about you.

In boxing no one generates strong feelings like Mayweather, no one has really been silent about him for a long time now.

So yea Floyd is a huge draw, it never hurts having some help in some key markets but Floyd is pushing major weight in why his events do what they do

Floyd is a top draw,,, guys like roy jones would kill to have his ppv numbers...

ghost-floyd did double roy jones' biggest ppv vs ruiz

Once floyd loses once or twice, his ppv numbers will go down to normal levels around 400k-600k just like manny-rios, chavez-serg, etc

No the point was if he was a draw he'd fight on a US holiday rather than on Mexican holidays to sell ppv's. If thats the case, why didn't Tyson and ODH, who were also US stars, fight on that date?

I think some of you may think that Cinco De Mayo is a bigger holiday for the Mexican than it really is. I'm from Texas and have tons of Mexican friends. They all tell me that Cinco de Mayo isn't celebrated by their families. It is a date that is recognized but they don't go all out for that date. The Holiday in September is a different story however, that is the true independence for the Mexican culture. I think Mayweather keeps that Cinco de Mayo weekend date because of the success that he had on that date with Oscar. I personally think that fight was going to do amazing no matter which weekend they selected. I think the fight being on Cinco de Mayo just added even more intrigue to the fight. Mayweather is probably convinced that Cinco de Mayo is a huge weekend also.
