There is nothing you can do about this level of ******ity.

Posters think they know why casual fans buy floyd fights but they don't. They think the people in this business care why people buy the fights. they don't.

Its all about sales and floyd sells.

going by mayweather's huge numbers against canelo, who was relatively unkown compared to a true star in manny pacquiao, i have no doubt that mayweather - pacquiao would have sold 3 million ppv. probably much, much more.

what they did was use the prospect of a fight against each other to promote their own fights, and in the long run it made them much more money.

Bob and Al are Harvard graduates after all so its not surprising to find out this was the plan all along.

When he was with HBO the Greenburg (when he was still there) said all the cable and satellite data showed the buys to be from "urban" neighbourhoods. That's code for African American.

Also i think it's safe to say he is a big draw all on his own. It's not a coincidence that other fighters biggest PPV's (even Oscar) were with Mayweather.

            This thread is ridiculous.

Good fighters sell PPV's, and that's the bottom line. Manny and Floyd were 1 and 2 P4P, not a coincidence they are 1 and 2 for PPV's. Tyson (still the biggest draw ever imo) and the cross dresser were also very ELITE fighters at their peak, and hence huge drawcards. You need to be elite to get those types of PPV no's. Non elites with big fanbases get Gatti type numbers.

I never bought a Mayweather ppv. I would if he was more exciting and wasn't so careful with who he fought.

You'll get delusional ass motherf**kers on this site who say that the majority buy his fights to watch his greatness but that's a bunch of bull****. Most people hate the **** out of him and hate him so bad they'll drop 70 bucks just hoping to see him get KTFO. If he had Andre Ward's persona nobody would give a damn about him. His fan base would be Andre's. He's a villain and that's why he sells.
How exactly do you know that most people hate him? Have you visited the household of every boxing fan that watches his fights?

Of course he isnt a draw. You put Emmanuel Augustus in with Canelo, Cotto and Guerrero and you still get major PPV events.
