Is Mayweather Really a PPV Draw?

Floyd has sold more combined ppv's than any other fighter now. Including Tyson, and Oscar he was involved in the two biggest ppv's of all time and Oscar never again or before broke the 2 million Ppv's number Floyd did it again after v Canelo.
Hate Floyd for being a prick but don't fool yourself the man is currently the biggest ppv's star of all time.Comment

If opponent selection doesn't play a vital role In the success of Mayweathers PPV events, then why did Showtime reportedly lose millions of dollars on the Guerrero fight and why doesn't all of his PPV'S generate Alvarez type numbers. There Is no doubt that Mayweather Is a draw, but opponent selection Is critical, that's why It was a slap In the face for him to offer Pacquiao a flat fee of 40 million dollars with no PPV revenue. Mayweather would do 700,000-1million buys against your average type fighters, such as Guerrero but would most likely do 2-2.5 million buys against a fighter the calibre of Manny Pacquiao. So yes, again, Mayweather Is a draw, but needs a quality name on the bill also, just as any other top name big PPV star.
While Money is a certified draw, I do agree with the above....Money needs a least a respectable dance partner...as does the Pac-Man
Below are the numbers:
Money
1. Arturo Gatti 365,000
2. Zab Judah 374,000
3. Carlos Baldomir 325,000
4. Oscar De La Hoya 2.4 million
5. Ricky Hatton 940,000
6. Juan Manuel Marquez 1.1 million
7. Shane Mosley 1.4 million
8. Victor Ortiz 1.25 million
9. Miguel Cotto 1.5 million
10.Robert Guerrero 870,000
11.Saul Alvarez 2.2 million
Pac-Man
1. Erik Morales I 350,000
2. Erik Morales II 360,000
3. Oscar Larios Unavailible
4. Erik Morales III 350,000
5. Jorge Solis 200,000
6. Marco Antonio Barrera II 350,000
7. Juan Manuel Marquez II 400,000
8. David Diaz 250,000
9. Oscar De La Hoya 1.25 million
10. Ricky Hatton 850,000
11. Miguel Cotto 1.25 million
12. Joshua Clottey 700,000
13. Antonio Margarito 1.15 million
14. Shane Mosley 1.34 million
15. Juan Manuel Marquez III 1.4 million
16. Timothy Bradley 900,000
17. Juan Manuel Marquez IV 1.15 million
18. Brandon Rios 500,000Comment

Opponent selection for a big PPV is important for EVERY fighter, not just Floyd.
The question you have to ask is, can Manny Pacquiao do those numbers without Floyd?
No, he can't. He hasn't ever, and now he won't ever because his career is in a deep decline.
Can Floyd do it without Manny Pacquiao? Yes, he's done it twice.
$40M is a slap in the face? How much do you think Floyd is giving up on what he usually makes in a "mega-fight" to fight Manny Pacquiao, so that Mr. Manny Pacquiao can have $40M?
Never in the history of ever have I heard someone say $40M is a slap in the face.
These ******s think that because a fight generates $250M-$300M in revenue, that the fighters are splitting $300M between themselves. At most they're splitting a little over $100M.
But $40M is a slap in the face!!!

Do you Intentionally try to provoke arguement? Where In my post did I say opponent selection only applies to Floyd? As a matter of fact I said the exact opposite. Reading before replying Is highly recommended.Comment

Showtime is "supposedly" losing money because of the massive deal that they gave to Mayweather. That's the only reason. In any other circumstance a 700k fight is a very good PPV number. Some people are clearly spoiled into thinking that selling 1 million + PPVs is a common occurrence, when it really isn't.If opponent selection doesn't play a vital role In the success of Mayweathers PPV events, then why did Showtime reportedly lose millions of dollars on the Guerrero fight and why doesn't all of his PPV'S generate Alvarez type numbers. I'm also not sure why good opponent selection seems to be an epiphany on these forums. Why the hell would Mayweather, or any other PRIZE fighter for that matter, not want to pick the opponent that maximizes his earning potential? Its simple business. Not speak to you specifically when I say that, but people in general that keep pointing to Mayweather opponents.Comment
