First of all if Martinez wants the payday he needs to STFU and sign the contract. Cotto is offering Martinez a 70/30 in Cotto's Favor and Cotto to be introduce second, while Martinez comes 2nd to the ring. Thats more than fair if he doesnt like he can always go and fight GGG(lol).

Second, Cotto wasnt the A side vs Pacquiao it was a 60/40 split in favor of Pacquiao(the Hatton/Pacquiao fight was 52-48 fro Pac) Cotto did get the champs threatment by walk to the ring last and got annouced last aswell. On the posters and promotions Pacquiao's name was put first.

Third Cotto did ***** somewhat about the catchweight and the title. He thought he could pull some leverage because he had the title and he got told to stfu and sign teh fight at a catchweight.

Dude I'm as big a Cotto fan as there is but you are flat out wrong on everything you've been saying.

Pac-Cotto was 65-35 for Pac. Pac was WITHOUT QUESTION the A-side. Cotto was a really, really solid B-side which is why it was the event of the year but make no question that Pacquiao was prob the biggest star in boxing at that point.

And when they were discussing the rematch Cotto publicly denounced the catchweight. Said something to the effect of "I won't sacrifice my body again". He wasn't getting 50-50 in the rematch either.

However Cotto is clearly the A-side here and he has plenty of negotiating power. I don't care that Martinez is the champ or whatever, Martinez hasn't generated a quarter of the revenue that Cotto has in his career and money is the only thing that matters.

pacquiao fought marquez, diaz, barrera and morales 3 times on ppv before moving up. he wasn't some unknown before he fought dlh. he was already a star.
He wasn't a huge star. Fighters in lighter divisions generally don't start to hit huge audiences until they begin to move up in weight. Historically the most money has been made in 2 divisions, heavyweight and welterweight. No dispute that PAC was the biggest star in the lighter weight classes, I certainly watched all of his fights. But he wasn't publicized nearly as much as Cotto was at the time. But the circumstances of the negotiation, in my opinion, though we will never have every exact detail, arum screwed Cotto in negotiations, just like he tried during the second negotiations.

In the second negotiations PAC was going to get the bigger purse and Cotto was going to get the bigger ppv split. Also like I said he never discredited the fight or PAC for the catch weight. I never said he was happy with the catch weight in the first fight read the original comment to the post in context and you will see my answer.

Sergio sounds like JMM, I am fan of Martinez but this guy is bitter! His mind is telling him he can KO Cotto and I agree but the only problem is without his speed, Cotto will f v ck him up. Sergio's knee injury and his inactivity will be a problem and Maravilla's defense is nowhere near Floyd's D. GGG is a better fight for Sergio, no shame on losing to 3G.
