Money wise I think Cotto should have faced canelo first, who he could beat IMO...but Sergio if he can move and put that Paul Williams treatment on Cotto, it's gonna be like a better stronger more skilled Margarito nightmare, then again maybe age and injury play to Cotto and he can box it and win, that just seems very unlikely.

I think Cotto fighting Martinez is a win win to be honest. Against Canelo he has more pressure on his shoulders due to the Mexican-PR rivalry and the fact that Canelo is around his weight, taking on Martinez ease all of that pressure and a win against Martinez would be greater.

(I know it was only one pound below the limit but Cotto's team originally wanted 150 #s and Miguel had previously fought at full 154 Lbs against Yuri and Mayorga). It is the same situation with Floyd that criticized Manny for asking catchweights but Floyd was also an hypocrite by demanding Canelo Alvarez to fight with a maximum weight of 152 Lbs (again was only 2 pounds below the limit but it made Mayweather to eat his previous words about illegitimate wins).

well it was highly publicized that Cotto requested the weight to mess with Margarito, it wasnt necessarily for an advantage, because as you pointed out Cotto fought at the full weight prior to that fight. Although im not a fan of catch weights i will say that a boxer should not open his mouth about going down in weight in order to fight. So when Mayweather called Canelo on that offer i have no problem with it, he took advantage of Canelo's ******ity. You cant say he forced him because he said he would fight Floyd at a catch weight.

If Sergio tries to box on the back foot, King Cotto will cut off the ring on him with his superior ring generalship, get inside with the jab and a high guard, and systematically break him down with body work. The King's piston like jab will crush Sergio's nose, he will not be able to breathe and he will pay. The King will be rewarded with a likely KO/TKO late or wide UD.
