"Competitive" and "going to win" are two different things. You're one of the few (along with other ricans) who think Cotto will "definitely" win; everyone else believes Cotto either has a chance or will be competitive.
Seems like most are hesitant to pick because they don't know what Sergio's health status is right now.
If Cotto can't knock him out I can see him going on the defensive and trying to outbox Martinez as he did with Mosely.
I seriously doubt Cotto can knock out Martinez, especially at 160. If Sergio survived that Chavez onslaught, he can survive a Cotto onslaught.
My thing is this: Cotto usually needs to be set in order to hit hard, knockout blows. If Martinez still has his legs, he won't allow Cotto to be set. And Cotto won't be able to outbox Martinez... not as the shorter, smaller, man with the shorter reach. Cotto' only chance is to be the raging bull that applies pressure.
I'll be rooting for Cotto, as always, but I don't like this matchup for him. If Sergio that fought Jr shows up, Miguel is going to have to very careful to avoid getting KTFO.
Fortunately, that Sergio probably no longer exists.
So imo it's going to come down to stamina. Miguel still has to be careful (especially early), but if he can stay on his feet and keep it reasonably close the first half of the fight, I could see Cotto getting to Sergio and doing damage as he begins to fade.
Thing is, Cotto can't afford to eat a huge shot from Maravilla because I doubt he'll be let off the hook if he starts doing the Judah dance.
I don't like this fight for Miguel but he's the pro and I'm the random internet poster.
I'm a big fan of Cotto, more so than Martinez, but I am unsure if he could pull this one off, although I hope he does...
Regardless of the result, I believe this will be a good fight. There are several factors/questions surrounding it to make it interesting, plus the fact these guys don't like each other all that much, so I do think this will be a good fight.
Haters........there is NO gory in hiding, ducking or not taking chances! You bunch of tards should be happy that Cotto is willing to take chances and lay it all on the line for glory! Miguel has guts, and balz of steel something that many fighters today are lacking!
Fugg you all, putas! Go suck on plaster ****s and Duckweather feathers!

Were you licking your lips when you were typing about his balls?
It all depends on how healthy Sergio Martinez is come fight night. I'm a Cotto fan but he and his team picked this fight because they're counting on Sexy Sergio being way past his prime. I honestly believe it will be competitive at some points but Sergio should be able to pick up the competitive, but clear win. If Sergio is at 100% though, he should be able to knock out Cotto.
An 85% Sergio would easily win.
Cotto is giving up 3 inch of height + 6 to 7 inch of reach.
Let say the catchweight is say at 157lb (1/2 way between JMW and MW), Cotto would be even slower. I don't see Cotto winning this fight with relatively healthy Sergio.
A relatively healthy Sergio translate into a long night for Cotto and his fans.
I hope Cotto breaks a sweat when fighting sergio. Seriously Cotto will surprise a lot of people after he KOs sergio with a body shot. sig my prediction gentlemen.
