Does anyone actually think Cotto vs Martinez is competetive?

Unless Martinez is completely shot its a mismatch.

To be honest, this a fight where I have no clue who will win

First I thought this could be competitive fight, but if you think about size difference - Martinez is same height as Trout, but with much better power...

Cotto's only chance is if Martinez is completely shot.

Martinez is not really a natural MW though. Not more than Cotto is a natural LMW.

I think it's a good fight - Martinez didn't look impressive against Murray - a draw in my opinion. Cotto has a good jab and looked good in his last bout but Martinez is much more elusive. Depends on how Martinez is feeling.

Excited for this fight, but sway 70-30 in Martinez favour at this point in time.

I think the question behind everyone's mind is how much Sergio has left in the tank. If his last outing was just a fluke, then Cotto truly is in for a great challenge. Long layoff's could be an issue too. Who knows how Sergio's stamina or legs hold up.

No one thinks Cotto is gonna have to get physical, all he has to is attack in spots and keep it moving. Martinez's offense gets very predictable when he's made to come forward, Cotto should win at this stage. Only thing I'm really worried about is whether Cotto's conditioning will allow him to utilize this game plan for 12 rounds, if he tires Martinez may end up stopping him.
Against Macklin Martinez seemed aged. He threw one or two shots a round, and didnt fight like himself. The commentators spoke about it as well. Against Chavez he was in shape to be way more aggressive and exciting. Countering everything, volume punching, crazy stamina. If THAT Martinez shows up, he will batter Cotto while yelling at him like he does when he gets arrogant and mad in the ring.

I just don't see how Cotto wins this fight at all.. And I hope if he loses he just retires already..

I mean for one thing Cotto is going to be way too small, Martinez is a natural middleweight, Cotto is small at jr middle.

And this isn't a scenario where Cotto is going to be smaller and more agile. Martinez is faster, has better balance and movement, hit's harder, has better punch resistance.

In my mind, this fight is a mismatch and I don't know why Cotto is taking it.

Sure Martinez is a bit older now, but that's not going to be nearly enough for Cotto to win. He will be outboxed bad for 3-4 rounds and I see Martinez taking him out somewhere around the 5th or 6th
I have to somewhat disagree on the size factor, the size difference will not be an issue here. Sergio went 60, b/c he couldn't get any 54 fights iirc, he is a natural LMW.

Martinez power and movement can stop Miguel in his tracks, IMO. With Sergio's layoff, surgery, and just being susceptible to more injuries, will that be enough for Cotto/Roach game plan to skate by? Man, I don't know. Both are my boys, but I'm rooting for Miguel but would not be surprised that Sergio takes him out early to mid rounds.

Very intriguing fight, so many factors play into it. This match up is great for boxing!

I think Martinez is going to brutalize Cotto. I don't think Cotto is the same fighter as he once was. I mean he got comprehensively beaten by Trout. I honestly don't know why people talk about how impressive he looked against Delvin. Come on people, Devlin is ****!
