If WARthysse was in Gracias stable he would have stopped Danny in DosRounds.
If Lucas Matthysse went with Robert Garcia?

What???I don't think he is good enough already. Sure, he could have beat Garcia. But he didn't. Big fucking difference. That's a fight he should have won, he had the tools to do it, but for one reason or another he came up short.
People keep talking about the eye injury like its a one off thing. That's crazy in my opinion, there's every chance something like that happens again with Danny's left hook.
Matthysse has the ability to put it on Garcia in a much bigger way if he was more varied and busier offensively. He spends way too long waiting and doing nothing in the pocket. Thinking too much when he should be throwing. He needs someone like Roach who can give him a couple of more set pieces to use when he's in striking range, rather than sitting there waiting for the opponent to expose himself first.
He IS good enough already. And you can't just brush that swollen eye off like it's nothing. Yeah, it fits your agenda, but he was winning the majority of the rounds leading up to that eye.
Explain that, then?
He's thinking too much, because he's in front of someone that can take your head off with a counter left. You can't just charge in on someone like Danny.
He's good enough. He doesn't need bad luck the next time they fight.
In case you didn't notice. It was a grazing glove that caused the eye swelling. I'm sure that will happen all the time.Comment

People act like Lucas is totally washed up and irrelevant. He lost to a guy who's turning out to be a very good fighter in Danny Garcia, by a round or two ffs it wasn't even a blowout. Now, the eye injury was unfortunate but worse, IMO, was his cavemen cornermen who didn't even have an endswell smh.
Lucas is fine and will come back stronger than ever. I'd hate to be his comeback opponent, that guy is gonna get wrekt.Comment

I see him loosing to Mayweather to be honest. That's it.
Danny really impressed me with the Lucas fight, but he's only human. Everyone can loose. Danny is a good fighter that is getting better.
If the rematch ever happens, shoot me a message and we can bet on itComment

You trolling or what?
I could see Danny easily losing to Thurman.
Losing to Bradley, Guerrero, Maidana, Victor Ortiz. Danny's a bad ass JWW, but at WW, I don't see him being the same guy.
If the rematch happens, I have Lucas winning. This time, hopefully no low blows, hip shots, and eye swelling.Comment

I like Roach, but I think Garcia is just as good as him, and without the language barrier, with Roach he would have the problems again like Khan and Provo, being given 2nd/3rd priority, instead on number 1. I think at the Garcia's gym they have a bond, where all fighters learn from each other rather than just a trainer, which enables them to be comfortable in their training. I just don't think Roach could provide that sort of time to Matthysse, and Garcia probably could. Garcia is doing well as a young trainer and he really does back his fighters up to the fullest, that in itself is a great feeling to have by your side.Comment

I don't think Matthysse needs much tweeking but there is some stuff he could work on.
Someone mentioned earlier (dr.Rumack?) that he's waiting too long to unload punches at times. Especially when he's being held, he doesn't seem to show that urgency like he wants to get out of the clinch and start punching again. A common theme with the 3 fighters that made the final bell with him is that they were all able to spoil his work on the inside. I don't know if that's something Garcia works on specifically but Maidana worked brilliantly out of the clinch this weekend.
Regarding Garcia i think this will always be a hard style for him. But i do think he could get the win if they fought again. Being able to stop Garcia spoiling on the inside is crucial imoComment

Lol you guys still crying about the phantom punch. It didnt swell immediately from a swipe. It got like that from the constant punches to the face firsts brawlers head. Get over it alreadyComment

That's a strategy issue. Not a learning issue. He did what Maidana did in the Peterson fight. So, there's that.I don't think Matthysse needs much tweeking but there is some stuff he could work on.
