Your exaggerating the extent, Pernell Whitaker is probably my favorite fighter of all time too. Don't think I've ever finished a career set faster than that one. This truly looks like a case of agree to disagree man, honestly.

He went into that fight being prepared for Duran's slick style, and to dance with him, not to march in and wear him out. Which he should have done.

Hopkins does have better defense, but that's not saying much when Hagler wasn't a slouch defensively, and he was a better counter puncher than Hopkins, imo.

And yes, this is a pick em fight. I think Hagler has the hunger and that extra gear to get at Bernard on the inside.
Yeah I'm not convinced it was the low weight that affected him. I think it was Duran. He had 15 rounds to adjust and truthfully, Duran could have done more. Hopkins would have. Anyway, nice to see some old school heads chopping it up. And my boy RubenSonny in the mix as usual. Good stuff

His offense was one dimensional and consisted mostly of looking for the left hook, I liked Tyson's arsenal a lot better and certainly Chavez as well. I know that's where he operated, his game was largely based on that solely and even then I would never consider Frazier a great inside fighter, never.

I could say the same for the Calzaghe fight. But yeah, great to have some solid boxing discussion going on. Good stuff.

the easy answer is marvin hagler. i think it's the right answer. hagler was a terrific MW. in addition to having a great chin and very good power, he was a southpaw with great boxing skill. that's such a tough go. hopkins doesn't have anything that makes me think that he could win the rounds, and there's no way he stops hagler.

                  15 round hagler decision.

Then you are admittedly exaggerating Hopkins inside capabilities since you have agreed that more than one fighter was better than him on the inside. Pea ****ed up a great in-fighter on the inside, who was the best inside fighter Hopkins beat inside?

Your entitled to your opinion, however utterly questionable it is - but how can you sit there and claim that "most wouldn't" consider him a great inside fighter?

Out of curiosity, do you think Larry Holmes had a crap jab?
