His win, and means to provide aid to those in need have brought back his popularity.

Recently some of the politicians there were seen repackaging UN Aid Packages with their names in order to make it appear as if they were the ones providing the aid to the people. This is a common practice there, and UN soldiers have barred the politicians from going near aid supplies.

The fact is Pacquiao loves his country and is trying to help beyond what is his responsibility, and these greedy scumbags are trying to shake him down.
    This is exactly correct.

If I may dovetail on this excellent post, the tax authorities ALWAYS put a liene on property, its what they usually do first and probably did first in this case (assuming they operate the same way as our crooks at the IRS operate here in this country).

The shamelessness of these sycophants in truly gauling. They are not even making a pretense of being fair, equitable or reasonable.

I implore posters here....as a first step in educating all Americans to take a look at the figures here...look at how much those bastards are demanding....30%! then take a look at how many 1% percenters there are in the Filipines...Chinese nationals included and do the math. IF they were taking that kind of money and distributing half of it the Filipines would be a prosperous nation with social programs. Its not happening.

Taxes are used to penalize and they are excessive beyond belief! 30% off the top and then sales tax on things bought, tax on capital gains, ect. At the end of the day what does Manny actually take home?

Did Pac knew before his pledge that his accounts were frozen, if so, why made a pledge?
Do the math....If the government was getting that kind of tax money and using it things would be different. They are taxing earned income because rich people do not have earned income. yes there are tax cheats but with earned income they know every dime Pacquio makes, do you think it is fair they get more than half of his money for taxes? Consider 30% plus the taxes you pay everytime something is bought and it is closer to 50 than 30%. Would you give up that much of your income because the government decides that if it is earned they can tax it heavily while not taxing assets in trusts, corporations, in real estate LLC's?

Everybody needs to come together as one nation and remove all the tax men from this world and the world will be a better place for the people.

OK I don't know **** about Pac finances. Im curious if anyone can clear this up for me.

Say pac got 40 million for a fight.

Tax man ( be it US or BIR) they get roughly 30%
Bob Arum takes promoter fees of what 25-27%
          Trainer, others 5-10%
That is WORST case close to a 70% loss of the original 40 million purse. Is this true? Does anyone know?

Don't wanna jump to conclusions, cause I hope Arum isn't taking that much or its taken elsewhere.

They need that money to build and fix bridges, build public schools and parks, and to pay themselves while everyone else gets screwed working for a living.

The average American worker pays taxes for just about everything on top of what many have to pay the IRS.

And as Chris Rock says: "When you get your paycheck, you realize you don't pay tax. They take tax. Even before you see it, that schit is gone."

It's obvious Manny sees his career as a road something much bigger than himself and his vision is for a much better country than the current one.

But only the people can overthrow "the old regime", as they say, if they really believe he can make a difference.

Otherwise, he 'll just have a heck of a time going through political maneuvering to make some kind of a difference.

I have said this a hundred times already but I need to say it again. He does not need to hide money in offshore accounts if he has already paid taxes on it. People only hide money in offshore accounts if they want to avoid paying taxes on that money. Pacquaio has allegedly already paid the taxes on the money in question. You are talking in circles and spouting conspiracy theories, but fail to realize or accept the fact that Pacquaio could easily clear this up by getting a letter from the IRS stating that he has paid his taxes. It it obvious that you believe everything that Bob Arum and Pac says, but I know for a fact that it does not take two years to get a letter from the IRS.
