If you read between the lines and follow the politics in his country it is apparent that the ruling class does not want him gaining power and support from the middle and lower classes of Philippines. He had lost luster after the Marquez loss at which point the media, controlled by these ruling families criticized Pacquiao for doing both boxing and politics.

His win, and means to provide aid to those in need have brought back his popularity.

Recently some of the politicians there were seen repackaging UN Aid Packages with their names in order to make it appear as if they were the ones providing the aid to the people. This is a common practice there, and UN soldiers have barred the politicians from going near aid supplies.

The fact is Pacquiao loves his country and is trying to help beyond what is his responsibility, and these greedy scumbags are trying to shake him down.

People are so naive. Rich ppl store their money in offshore accounts to evade taxes; there are many ways to do this. A poor country like the Philippine relies on tax revenue from rich guys like Pac, and i am sure they suspect this is what he's doing and are after him. No doubt, Arum is trying to help him, but the Philippine government is relentless, so Pac is using the his popularity and the typhoon to rally the people to his defence.

Did Pac knew before his pledge that his accounts were frozen, if so, why made a pledge?

I truly hope I am wrong - but why where his taxes(the money he made in the US) not disclosed to the BIR during the years they where supposedly filed? See manny is very trusting and let's top rank have too much control over his finances- I bet you they give him allowances. Koncz is a top rank spy - remember the accounting firm manny hired a year or so ago that found all types of discrepancies but was immediately fired once these issue where discovered? I think top rank controls his money. Why would top rank issue a statement about the tax years in question but not a rep for Manny's estate? This why boxing needs federal intervention - I do not think Manny is dumb or illiterate by any means, but he might not be smart enough to control or manage the amount of money he makes. Study study - top rank never wanted Manny to fight Floyd. Why would you clearly have him lose to Timothy Bradley where anyone that can see - saw he clearly won the fight, and top rank did not raise a eyebrow. its not uncommon for politician to be illiterate in 3rd world countrys.
also an adult in a third world country is concidered literat with whats equal to a sixth grade educated u.s. kid.
