Its generally only fanboys that do that. Disliking a fighters fanbase is one thing, but hating a fighter because of them just seems pretty ******.
Hating a boxer because of his fanbase.. Truth or BS?

this doesn't apply beyond the internet
you don't hear NSB style crap in real life boxing conversations
but here? you can't help it
Floyd fans here make it IMPOSSIBLE to like Floyd
not that Floyd even needs their help, but he damn well gets it
same goes for Cotto buttboys around here
can't help taking shots at Cotto due to his fans being bitchesComment

Unfortunately its not ok to call these posters on this kind of baiting but its ok for them to do it on here. The flip side of this argument is if you make any critical argument against a fighter then the fanbase attack you for hating their favorite fighter. The trend I'm seeing more on this site is the "slick boxer," "******," "thug," coded racist language that seem to go toward one particular fanbase that somehow is more acceptable than saying I think (insert boxer's name here) is overrated. Only on BS is perceived hatred for your favorite fighter more egregious than subtle or sometimes overt racist comments.

Who cares about their fanbase? I might not care too much for a boxer because of their personality or antics but every fighter needs fans, it's jsut part of the sport.i call it BS
why would i hate a fighter because of another dude fan overating him?
i hear alot of people saying this qoute "i wish that dude gets Koed so his fanbase would stfu", then they go "i like the boxer but i hate his fanbase thats why"
how would u guys break this down type of people?Comment

Sorry, but that is a shameless and unneccesary pulling of the race card there. WTF is racist about the term 'slick boxer'? The terms '******' and 'thug' etc. and the people that used them were booted long ago by Bringer so where is this trend you speak of? The mods have got a lot sharper at dealing with racism on here, subtle or otherwise. Credit them with that, it used to be a lot worse in the not too distant past. The flip side of this argument is if you make any critical argument against a fighter then the fanbase attack you for hating their favorite fighter. Dude think before you open your mouth. My location is Tokyo, Japan. You couldn't watch it on TV here so you had to go to a foreign sports bar in Roppongi as one of the few locations that could broadcast it.Comment

I don't hate a boxer because of his fanbase. I will use the klitschko brothers as an example. I think many of their fans need to take their bunny slippers & knee pads off & quit being so hard to deal with. I think many are hypocrites. does that mean I hate he kbros because of it? absolutely not! I don't like their styles & I just have other boxers I like better.Comment

Its possible. I am not sure about hate but due to the ridiculous amount of hype I dislike GGG.
The praise he gets considering hes still fought nobody is sickening and I strongly feel he gets a pass where just about every other fighter gets **** on for the same thing(s). Its double standards.
I think half of his fanbase are like annoying kids.
It just irritates me and the lengths they go to & I tell you right now the second this 'unbeatable monster' takes a loss the ones that have hyped him too death will be the first off the bandwagon. They're not true boxing fans, they are glory supporters who overdo it and only like a fighter when hes winning.Comment
