Martinez is brittle, taller, has been knocked down multiple times recently, does not use a high guard defense and is known for show boating, he will get KO'd easier by GGG.

It's quite easy to stay on your feet when all you're doing is holding a high defense, looking out for every punch and backing up constantly. Martinez is a much better version of Proska, and no version of Proska would ever beat GGG, same with Martinez, bad matchup.

I have always liked Sergio think he is a cool guy, fights hard and with a lot of style but Golovkin is a beast of a different sort. He has incredible skill and punch placement, scary accuracy and punching technique. He stops Sergio in 7 or 8.

There are just too many uncertainties with Martinez at this point. If they were to fight for Martinez's next fight, which they won't, I would go with Golovkin (probably) based on the injury/age/layoff. Martinez circa Pavlik and Williams 2, I'd go with Martinez with too much movement, speed and angles. I'd like to see Golovkin with a Murray, Barker or Quillin fight first though.

How can you compare Martinez with Proksa, a guy who was schooled by Mora and went life and death w/Kerry Hope (& lost); Darren Barker KO'd Hope in 4...

This reminds me of when Chavez Jr. stopped Andy Lee (a counterpunching southpaw) and people started saying that Chavez would do the same thing to Martinez.

The thing is Martinez is not just quick with his feet, but his also uses smart movement. He packs a deadly overhand left and right hook that keeps his opponents at bay. He'll probably set a lot of traps for Golovkin with the left hand if GGG thinks he can bullrush Sergio; he'll have to respect Sergio's power.

People still talking about that has-been Martinez? He gets knocked back to the slums of Buenos Aires by Golovkin in 7 rounds.

I'm a fan of both, but I can't see Sergio winning this fight if he has indeed lost a step (or two) as displayed in his last fight. Even if he can turn back the clock, GGG has a chance (more than a punchers chance, too) to win because Sergio doesn't have the best of chins and has a leaky defense.

With things as they are, I think GGG would stop Sergio around the 6th round.

                A recovered Martinez KO's Golovkin.

Time and time again it's defensive fighters that trouble Martinez. Fighters that get hit don't last. Chavez was the only one to stay standing because as we all know, he's no middle weight.

Golovkin's jab was the only thing keeping Stevens in check, who rocked him pretty hard in the fourth. Martinez has a better jab and won't get bullied by Golovkin's

Truthfully, the only thing that really impresses me about Golovkin is his power. He really only shows versatility in punching when he has cornered his opponent. His movement is mediocre, he can't fight stepping back and freezes up when he gets hit. His power is his great equalizer and it is frightful.

That being said, it wouldn't trouble Martinez. Golovkin doesn't have the quick enough defense to negate Martinez's offense. His best and only hope would be to weather the storm and tire him out like Chavez did, but can he take the same punishment Chavez did and stay standing??

You don't think GGG could make it 1 round longer than Barker or Macklin? I bet Macklin would disagree. Or was Sergio's prime already over by then?

If Martinez doesn't fight Golovkin in his next two fights then hid legacy is tarnished.

Not the way that he fights, no.

I stated that time and time again it's defensive fighters that trouble Sergio. Barker and Macklin both fought defensively against Sergio and got roughed up as soon as they forgot to do so.

I can't see Golovkin fighting defensively in any way.
